  • Publication number: 20070292049
Abstract: A method of producing an enhanced Active Appearance Model (AAM) by combining images of multiple resolutions is described herein. The method generally includes processing a plurality of images each having image landmarks and each image having an original resolution level. The images are down-sampled into multiple scales of reduced resolution levels. The AAM is trained for each image at each reduced resolution level, thereby creating a multi-resolution AAM. An enhancement technique is then used to refine the image landmarks for training the AAM at the original resolution level. The landmarks for training the AAM at each level of reduced resolution is obtained by scaling the landmarks used at the original resolution level by a ratio in accordance with the multiple scales.

  • Publication number: 20070003141
Abstract: A system for detecting and counting individuals in a stationary or moving crowd based on a digital or digitized image captured from a single camera. Initial information is assumed based on a foot-to-head plane homology, where a geometric construct is developed to best enclose image features with a high probability of being an individual within a crowd. These geometric constructs are then subjected to further probabilistic analysis to determine individuals. The vector track of each individual is determined to validate the determination of a group of features as individuals, thereby compensating for occlusion of an individual within any given frame image. A virtual gate is then employed to count the individuals moving past the virtual gate. Also, by weighting portions of the individual, events near the gate can be predicted.

  • Publication number: 20060120571
Abstract: A system and method of face recognition is provided. The method includes capturing an image including a face and registering features of the image to fit with a model face to generate a registered model face. The registered model face is then transformed to a desired orientation to generate a transformed model face. The transformed model face is then compared against a plurality of stored images to identify a number of likely candidates for the face. In addition, the face recognition process may be performed passively.

  • Patent number: 6552889
Abstract: A power FET and a replica FET on a semiconductor chip coupled to a logic control circuit on a second semiconductor chip within a single housing. A power FET and a scaled down replica of the power FET are disposed on a semiconductor chip. The power FET is used as a switch to couple a DC power source to a load. A fraction of the power FET drain current passes through the replica FET and an external resistance. When the voltage across the external resistance exceeds a maximum value based upon the maximum allowable power FET drain current, the logic control circuit enters into a pulsed gate (PG) mode of operation. The first step in the PG mode is to switch both FETs into a non-conducting state for a predefined period of time. After this time period, a ramp voltage applied between gate and source of both FETs will switch them back into a current conducting state while holding the power FET drain current below its upper limit in the presence of a high capacitance load.

  • Patent number: 5548667
Abstract: The image processing system has a unit for photographing an object in two dimensions, a feature extraction unit for extracting features from the two-dimensional image data from the photographing means, and a three-dimensional shape reproduction unit. The feature extraction unit refers to feature points given to the object to extract the features. The three-dimensional shape reproduction unit expresses the object by a dynamic equation, applies force from the feature extraction coordinates to the dynamic model to cause the dynamic model to change shape and supplement depth data, and to thereby reproduce the three-dimensional shape of the object. To increase the speed of the processing, it is desirable to divide the image data of the object into portions with little changes in shape and perform the processing for reproducing the three-dimensional shape for each mode.
