The first and second input terminals are configured to be connected to a source of input power. The conversion circuit is operably connected to the first and second terminals, and includes a first inductive winding coupled between the first terminal and a switching device. The conversion circuit also includes a rectifier coupled between the first inductive winding and a first output, and a capacitor coupled between the first output and circuit ground.

Preferably the apparatus includes a plurality of document processing features operable for processing a variety of documents, such as incoming mail. The apparatus may include a feeder for feeding the documents from a sack of documents, an extraction station for extracting documents from envelopes, an optical scanner for scanning optical images of the documents, a orientation detection station for determining the orientation of the documents, a MICR station for identifying unknown magnetic ink markings and a sorting station for sorting the documents. The documents include a document having an unknown magnetic marking that is magnetized and then scanned to obtain a plurality of data points indicative of the unknown marking. Using cross correlation, the data for the unknown marking is then compared with a series of models corresponding to a series of known magnetic markings.

Abstract: A system for downloading files to a hand-held device includes a file converter for converting a selected file to a distilled file. The file converter uploads the distilled file to a server, which is associated with a file processor. The server processes the distilled file and sends it to a hand-held device. A file viewer displays or plays the distilled file on the hand-held device. A method for sharing files on a data storage device with a hand-held device includes the steps of selecting a file on the data storage device to be shared with the hand-held device, processing the selected file on the data storage device into a converted format for uploading to a server, uploading the converted file to the server, accessing the server from the hand-held device, and sending the converted file to the hand-held device for displaying or playing on the hand-held device.
