  • Patent number: 5540487
Abstract: Following a general trend, the present invention provides an anti-locking hydraulic brake system to which a brake force controller has been added. However, as opposed to the prior state of art, the brake force controller (21) according to the invention is blocked only once the pump (18) builds up pressure. This means that in any uncritical deceleration, the brake force controller (21) performs its pressure reducing function as soon as the switch-over pressure thereof is attained. This will involve the advantage over other brake force controls actuated only upon failure of the anti-locking function that jamming or seizing of operative elements of the controller is prevented from occurring and that, in addition, a slip control will be required less frequently.

  • Patent number: 5522426
Abstract: A valve arrangement, particularly to a solenoid valve arrangement for slip-controlled automotive vehicle brake systems, with a first valve closure member, in particular a hydraulically actuatable non-return valve, and a second valve closure member, preferably electromagnetically controllable by means of an armature and a magnet coil and arranged in a valve accommodating bore of the valve housing accommodating the valve arrangement, with both valve closure members being operable independently of each other in terms of action and being jointly arranged in the valve accommodating bore of the further valve closure member. This ensures a compact and easy manufacture of the valve arrangement.

  • Patent number: 5472266
Abstract: An anti-lock hydraulic brake system is disclosed with a flow control valve in the brake line. To prevent the flow control valve from performing its control function during a normal braking operation, a retaining piston works in conjunction with a spring such that the retaining spring bears against a piston of the flow control valve and retains the flow control valve piston in its initial position during normal braking operation. The retaining piston also serves as a valve closure member for a valve in the return line.

  • Patent number: 5460436
Abstract: A slip-controlled brake system for effectively attenuating switching noises at the inlet valves of slip control brake systems. This system is effective and simplifies current approaches. This is achieved in that for several wheel brakes the system uses one differential pressure limiter which is common to several wheel brakes which is mounted between an auxiliary pressure source and brake cylinder inlet valves. A reference pressure, which corresponds to one of the wheel brake pressures, is supplied to the differential pressure limiter by way of a pressure selector. The pressure selector can be designed such that it conveys either the highest or the lowest of the wheel brake pressures to the differential pressure limiter.

  • Patent number: 5449225
Abstract: A master brake cylinder for an anti-locking hydraulic brake system is provided, comprising a central valve provided in each piston. The central valve comprises a first valve and a second valve. The opening distance A of the first valve is smaller than the opening distance B of the second valve. The first valve is made of a metallic material while the closure member of the second valve is made of a soft-elastic material, such as a rubber ring 40. Being made of a hard material, the first valve can perform a pressure regulating function, involving, however, the risk that dirt particles contained in the pressure fluid, are forced into the valve ball and the valve seat, respectively, thereby preventing the valve from closing completely. In such an event, at least the closing function of the central valve is performed by the second valve. To a limited extent, the second valve also can take over a pressure control function.

  • Patent number: 5401084
Abstract: A hydraulic brake system with anti-lock control and traction slip control having a multiple-circuit master cylinder, inlet valves and outlet valves, a pressure fluid supply reservoir, an auxiliary-pressure supply system, an electronic control unit, and pedal-travel sensors and/or switches. The outlet valves which connect the wheel brakes of the non-driven wheels with the pressure fluid supply reservoir are driven temporarily or pulsewise in the traction slip control mode in order to safeguard that even in the event of a so-called braking intervention during the traction slip control mode, the travel of the brake pedal can be recognized by the travel switches and travel sensors which permits detection of the transition from the traction slip control mode to the braking mode.

  • Patent number: 5388899
Abstract: This invention relates to a solenoid valve where a volume governor which governs the hydraulic flow is inserted coaxially to the valve closure member into the valve accommodating body of the valve. The volume governor is integrated by way of series connection between the first pressure medium connection, emanating from a pressure medium source, and the valve closure member. A reduction of the valve operating noises is ensured with a smallest-requirement-answering structural size, thus the control noises being prevented from propagating over the entire connected system.

  • Patent number: 5383718
Abstract: A brake system which can be employed both for brake slip control and for traction slip control, wherein the brake slip control is performed according to the return delivery principle, while an open-loop system is set up during traction slip control. In order to manage with the same pump (10) in both cases, a valve system composed of a first non-return valve (16) and a second non-return valve (17) is provided at the suction side of the pump. The opening pressure of the first non-return valve (16) is greater than that of the second non-return valve (17). Further, the initial pressure of a low-pressure accumulator (9) is in excess of the opening pressure of the first non-return valve (16). The first non-return valve (16) is operative during brake slip control, while the second non-return valve (17) is operative during traction slip control. Switch-over can be effected for instance by the master cylinder pressure via a control line (18).

Abstract: An anti-lock hydraulic brake system is described wherein a throttle valve has a restrictive flow condition which becomes effective in the brake line in the event of brake slip control. Pumps for reapply pressure deliver fluid to the wheel brake via this restriction and regulating the pressure in the wheel brake is performed by control of an outlet valve. The throttle valve is operated hydraulically by various arrangements including the application of pump pressure, or by wheel brake pressure applied upon opening of the outlet valve at the start of an anti-lock control cycle.
