  • Patent number: 5724898
Abstract: The grate for a firing system has at least one rate conveyor having a plurality of fixed bar rows and moving bar rows alternating in the longitudinal direction, which are limited on both sides by side walls and which are composed of water-cooled grate plates (3; 4). These grate plates are provided with a multiplicity of orifices or slits (8) , arranged in groups, for the supply of primary air and are each pivotably connected respectively to a fixed and a movable grate plate carrier (6) in the region of their rear end and rest with their front end on the adjacent grate plate. In order to cool optimally the grate plates (3; 4) subjected to high thermal stress, there are provided, on the underside of the grate plate, at least in some grate plates, cooling ducts (9) which are located between the orifices or slits (8) , these cooling ducts being formed, on the one hand, by the grate plate itself and, on the other hand, by hollow profiles (10) attached to the grate plate.

  • Patent number: 4738585
Abstract: The high-speed separator has a blade row (2) in the bend plane of a pipe elbow (3). The pressure side of the hollow deflection blades (5) has rows of suction openings (6, 7) which are covered by cover strips (8, 9) and through which condensate and transport steam are drawn off into the inside of the blade and pass further via channels (24, 26) in the deflection blades (5) and via an outer housing (11) into a channel (25) of the blades (5), from where the transport steam freed of condensate is drawn off into the main steam flow through rows of suction openings (15) at the suction side of the blades which are likewise covered by cover strips (16).

  • Patent number: 4589258
Abstract: In a wet-steam turbine plant, which comprises a high-pressure turbine (1), at least one low-pressure turbine (3), and a generator (4), and in which a high-velocity water separator (6) is provided in the connecting line (2) between the high-pressure turbine (1) and the low-pressure turbine (3), a reheater (7), of space-saving design, is located downstream of the water separator (6), between the lower and upper cross-connecting lines (2). The reheater (7) is connected in a manner such that the heating steam is admitted to it in cross-flow, and possesses a flow cross-section which approximates to that of the connecting line (2), so that it is a portion thereof.

  • Patent number: 4257360
Abstract: A feed water preheater has an integral desuperheater and an integral supercooler through which passes the feed water tube bundle. To prevent the penetration of steam into the supercooler at the point where the feed water tube bundle passes from the supercooler into the condensation space through a support plate, the tubes of the tube bundle are surrounded by sleeves which are fixed to the support plate. Steam flowing through the sleeves condenses and fills the sleeves to prevent the entry of steam into the supercooler. Sleeves are also provided at points where the tubes pass between the desuperheater and condensation space to reduce the velocity of steam traveling from the former to the latter. The latter sleeves can be oriented vertically in the case of a vertical preheater, as long as they are longer than the thickness of condensate disposed on the support plate in the condensation space.

  • Patent number: 4131015
Abstract: Measuring the mass flow of a liquid gas pumped from a storage tank to a consumer through a measuring station, includes the steps of throttling the flow of the liquid gas by a throttle in the measuring station; measuring the flow of the liquid gas according to the relationship ##EQU1## WHEREIN M is the flow rate, C and m are instrument constants evaluated by calibration, .DELTA.p is the head difference and .rho. is the liquid density; maintaining the delivery pressure of the liquid gas higher than its vapor pressure plus the maximum momentary head difference at the throttle; and compensating for the temperature-caused liquid density variation, including the steps of measuring the temperature of the liquid gas by a semiconductor having a resistance/temperature curve and adapting the curve to the density/temperature curve of the liquid gas.
