Patent number: 6590155Abstract: A floor stand for mounting an electrical box and for supporting a conduit extending downwardly to the electrical box has a conduit-supporting flange projecting backwardly from an upper portion of the upright member and is adapted to mount an electrical box so as to bear against a back face of the floor stand, beneath the conduit-supporting flange, which has three apertures, each adapted to pass a conduit extending downwardly through the aperture, to an electrical box so mounted. The conduit-supporting flange has a slot communicating with each aperture, from an edge of the conduit-supporting flange, and the conduit-supporting flange has a tab adjacent to the slot. The tab is adapted to permit a conduit to enter that aperture from the edge of the conduit-supporting flange, via the slot, if the tab is bent sufficiently, and to block a conduit from exiting that aperture, via the slot, if tab is unbent.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 2001Date of Patent: July 8, 2003Inventors: Paul A. Vrame, Peter A. Vrame

Publication number: 20020157850Abstract: A floor stand mounts an electrical box having a plaster ring. The electrical box defines a generally rectangular cavity, which is bounded by an upper wall, a lower wall, and two lateral walls, each wall having a distal edge and at least two said walls having ears projecting from their distal edges. The plaster ring defines a generally rectangular frame bounded by an upper member, a lower member, and two lateral members and is fastenable to the electrical box. The floor stand has two parallel uprights, each having an upper end and a lower end and each having an outer, backturned, stiffening flange. The floor stand has a structure bridging the upper ends of the two parallel uprights and a structure bridging the lower ends of the parallel uprights. The parallel uprights are positioned between the lateral members of the plaster ring and the distal edges of the lateral walls of the electrical box.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 25, 2001Publication date: October 31, 2002Inventor: Peter A. Patent number: 6230464Abstract: As stamped from sheet metal, an elongate hanger for hanging an electrical box between a pair of ceiling panel-supporting bars has two opposite ends, a main panel with a front surface and a back surface, a lower flange, and an upper flange. Each flange projects from the front surface and has plural grooves. Each groove is arranged to receive a tire wire wrapped around the hanger so that the tie wire is restrained in that groove against slipping along the hanger. At each of the opposite ends, the main panel has a pair of slits defining a tab adopted to be bent at a right angle. Each tab has a hole arranged to receive a fastener to fasten the tab to a ceiling panel-supporting bar extending at a right angle to the hanger.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2000Date of Patent: May 15, 2001Assignee: 3244 CorporationInventor: Peter A. Patent number: 6047517Abstract: As stamped from sheet metal, a hanger useful for hanging an electrical fixture from a suspended ceiling has a main panel, a lower flange, and an upper flange. Near each of its opposite ends, the hanger is provided with a slot defining a tab. The slot opens at and the tab extends to a projecting edge of the lower flange. Corners defined where the projecting edge of each of the upper and lower flanges meets each of the opposite ends of the hanger and where the slot opens at the projecting edge of the lower flange are rounded approximately to a radius not less than approximately 1/16 inch. Because of the rounded corners, an installer can handle the hanger and can manipulate the tabs with bare hands, without exposure to sharp corners at the corners so defined and so rounded. The slots are spaced equally from the opposite ends of the hanger.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1998Date of Patent: April 11, 2000Assignee: 3244 CorporationInventor: Peter A. Vrame
