  • Patent number: 5114164
Abstract: A suitcase incorporates a foldable handle assembly (22) and wheels (15,16) which are automatically moved into protruding positions when the handle assembly is extended. With the extended handle upright, a major face of the case is substantially horizontal and further cases can be stacked on the case, which serves as a trolley.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 13, 1989
Date of Patent: May 19, 1992
Inventors: Peter W. Bothwell, Roy Bothwell
  • Patent number: 4887565
Abstract: A poppet valve in an internal combustion engine is moved in both the opening and closing directions by a follower coupled with the valve and defining an internal cam-track. There extends through an aperture defined by the follower a camshaft having a cam which includes a pair of diammetrically opposite contact portions which run on the cam track and cause the follower to reciprocate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 27, 1988
Date of Patent: December 19, 1989
    Inventor: Peter W. Bothwell
  • Patent number: 4858573
Abstract: An internal combustion reciprocating piston engine is provided with a single overhead camshaft which operates six valves associated with a single combustion chamber by desmodromic valve gear. As viewed in a direction along the camshaft, the valves are mutually divergent in the direction from the camshaft towards the combustion chamber and some valve pairs are more divergent than the other valve pairs.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 13, 1985
Date of Patent: August 22, 1989
    Inventor: Peter W. Bothwell
  • Patent number: 4697554
Abstract: A cylinder head of an internal combustion engine carries an overhead camshaft and valves which diverge in a direction from the camshaft towards a combustion chamber with which the valves are associated. Longitudinal center lines of the valve stems intersect the camshaft axis.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 21, 1986
Date of Patent: October 6, 1987
    Inventor: Peter W. Bothwell
  • Patent number: 4650204
Abstract: A motorcycle has collapsible buffers which normally lie outside the legs of a rider and passenger but can swing outwardly to release the legs. Outward swinging of the buffers is resiliently opposed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 12, 1983
Date of Patent: March 17, 1987
    Inventor: Peter W. Bothwell
  • Patent number: 4572809
Abstract: A carburettor has a butterfly valve formed with an internal passage and outlet openings communicating with the passage. Fuel is discharged through the butterfly valve into the air stream to form a combustible mixture.
