  • Publication number: 20240071593
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that provide smart alerts to users, e.g., alerts to users about diabetic states that are only provided when it makes sense to do so, e.g., when the system can predict or estimate that the user is not already cognitively aware of their current condition, e.g., particularly where the current condition is a diabetic state warranting attention. In this way, the alert or alarm is personalized and made particularly effective for that user. Such systems and methods still alert the user when action is necessary, e.g., a bolus or temporary basal rate change, or provide a response to a missed bolus or a need for correction, but do not alert when action is unnecessary, e.g., if the user is already estimated or predicted to be cognitively aware of the diabetic state warranting attention, or if corrective action was already taken.

  • Publication number: 20120311788
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to change/travel kits and systems for absorbent articles and/or garments. A change kit for single and/or emergency use includes a change pad with single change accessories having a fully unrolled/unfolded condition defining an outer perimeter and a fully folded/rolled condition; a pouch secured to the outer perimeter of the change pad, the pouch defining a cavity that is sized to receive the change pad when the change pad is in the fully folded/rolled condition, the pouch being invertible to an inverted condition; wherein, when the change pad is in the fully folded/rolled condition, the pouch is everted from the inverted condition to completely receive the change pad within the cavity of the pouch; and an absorbent article retained in the pouch and that is compressed by hand upon folding/rolling of the change pad from the fully unrolled/unfolded condition to the fully rolled/folded condition.

  • Publication number: 20040002676
Abstract: An adhesive bandage having a backing material; a selectively placed layer; an adhesive; and a wound-contacting pad is disclosed. The selectively placed layer, which may be a semi-permeable film or a wound-cushioning material, has at least one dimension which is less than the corresponding dimension of the backing material. The bandage is cost efficient and comfortable to wear.

  • Patent number: 6592562
Abstract: An absorbent article is provided for use in the perineal area of the body. Compliant sealing gaskets are pre-formed to extend outward from the central portion of the article. The gaskets may be formed by looping a strip of material so as to form a compliant cuff which bears against the user's body in a comfortable manner. An elastic member placed in tension so as to impart an arcuate shape to the article may be placed inside a cavity formed by the cuff. The gaskets may be applied to an article having wings attached to the central portion so as to form pockets for retaining the elasticized portions of the panty crotch. The proximal ends of the gaskets are disposed outward of the pockets and the distance between the pockets is less than the width of the panty crotch so that the body facing said of the article is placed in tension.

  • Patent number: 4272005
Abstract: A method of applying a surface layer across a surface layer or joint between cladding layers on a clad metal plate or plates comprises forming a shallow chamfer along each opposing cladding layer edge and positioning over the said chamfers a corrosion resistant metal flyer-plate having a shallow generally V-shaped configuration, optionally applying a buffer layer of transmitting medium placed on the outside surface of the flyer-plate, further superimposing an explosive layer upon the cladding and buffer layers and detonating the explosive layer so as to weld the flyer-plate material at least to the cladding layers. Advantageously a metal groove may be formed in the base metal layer of the clad plate to facilitate positioning of the flyer-plate, the groove wall conveniently being extensions of the cladding chamfer surfaces.
