  • Patent number: 5486313
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for the preparation of carbon monoxide and/or hydrogen from a hydrocarbon feedstock. The hydrocarbon feedstock is subjected in a first stage to a catalytic partial oxidation process in which it is contacted, as a gaseous mixture comprising the hydrocarbon feedstock and an oxygen-containing gas, which gaseous mixture also comprises nitrogen, with a catalyst comprising as a catalytically active metal rhodium, iridium or platinum. At least a portion of the products of the first stage is subjected in a second stage to a process in which ammonia and/or hydrogen cyanide is removed.

  • Patent number: 5382653
Abstract: A process for the preparation of linear alternating copolymers of carbon monoxide and an ethylenically unsaturated compound by polymerizing the monomers in the presence of a suitable catalyst system, one or more components present in the reaction mixture being contaminated with alkali(ne earth) metal salt(s), which process involves a treatment by which at least part of the alkali(ne earth) metal salt is removed such that the total amount of alkali(ne earth) metals present in the copolymerization product is less than 1 part per million by weight; a copolymer composition comprising said copolymer, an alkali(ne earth) metal salt contaminant and a stabilizing quantity of a substance which is able to bind at least part of the alkali(ne earth) metal salt.

  • Patent number: 4977125
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the preparation of Si.sub.2 N.sub.2 O-containing which comprises reacting an amorphous, non-porous silicon dioxide material with flowing, ammonia-containing gas at temperatures of 950.degree.-1300.degree. C. The expression "flowing, ammonia-containing gas" refers to a large number of different gas mixtures which may contain only ammonia or one or more other gases besides ammonia, such as nitrogen, hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide or oxygen. Preferably, pure ammonia or ammonia mixed with the customary unconverted reaction components of the ammonia synthesis, optionally mixed with traces of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide or oxygen, is employed.
