Abstract: The invention relates to textile softener concentrates based on pentaerythritol and/or dipentaerythritol fatty acid partial esters. The dispersibility of such softener concentrates in cold water can be significantly improved by addition of a special emulsifier combination of quaternary ammonium compounds and nonionic compounds. The quaternary ammonium compounds are quaternized alkoxylated alkylamines and/or esterquats. Ethoxylated and/or propoxylated fatty acids or fatty acid esters and end-capped fatty alcohol polyglycol ethers are suitable nonionic emulsifiers.

Abstract: A process for the production of a solid esterquat free from solvents comprising the steps ofA) forming a mixture comprising(i) at least one fatty acid triethanolamine ester corresponding to formula (I) ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 CO is a saturated and/or unsaturated acyl radical containing 6 to 22 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 independently of one another represent hydrogen or have the same meaning as R.sup.1 CO, and n, m and p together stand for O or for a number of from 1 to 10;(ii) at least one fatty alcohol polyglycol ether, and(iii) at least one fatty acid partial glyceride; andB) adding an alkylating agent to the above mixture to form said solid esterquat.

Abstract: A process for producing a storage-stable, fine-particle wax dispersion by heating a mixture containing(A) 10% to 80% by weight of a wax,(B) 0.5% to 30% by weight of a hydrophilic nonionic dispersant having an HLB value of 8 to 18, and(C) 1% to 30% by weight of a hydrophobic co-dispersant selected from the group consisting of fatty alcohols containing 12 to 22 carbon atoms and partial esters of polyols containing 3 to 6 carbon atoms with fatty acids containing 12 to 22 carbon atoms,with the proviso that the weight ratio of component (B) to component (C) is in the range from 0.5:1 to 20:1, in the presence of 15% to 85% by weight of water to a temperature above the melting point of the mixture of components (A) to (C) to form a dispersion, heating the dispersion to its phase inversion temperature, and then cooling the dispersion to a temperature below its phase inversion temperature.

Abstract: Nitrogen-free anionic fabric softeners are provided by sulfated fatty acid partial glycerides corresponding fo formula (I): ##STR1## in which R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 independently of one another represent at least one aliphatic, linear or branched acyl radical containing 6 to 22 carbon atoms, at least one sulfate group and optionally a hydroxyl group, and m, n and p=0 or a number from 1 to 10.

Abstract: Quaternized esters having fabric-softening and hydrophilicizing properties are obtained by reaction of unsaturated fatty acids containing at least 40 mol-% transconfigured double bonds or esters thereof with alkanolamines and subsequent quaternization of the reaction products with alkylating agents.

Abstract: The invention relates to compositions and methods for smoothing textile fibers which compositions are characterized in that they contain as lubricants an aliphatic polyether corresponding to the following general formula:R.sup.1 --X--O--R.sup.2in which R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are linear and/or branched, saturated and/or saturated, OH-containing or OH-free C.sub.6 -C.sub.24 alkyl radicals of natural and/or synthetic origin and X is a homopolymer or copolymer containing one or more C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkylene oxides having a degree of polymerization of 1 to 25, either alone or in admixture with other smoothing agents.The other smoothing agents include paraffins, polyethylenes, fatty acid ethers, silicones or polyalkylene glycols. The compositions may be applied to textile fiber in the form of solutions, emulsions or aqueous dispersions.

Abstract: The resistance to yellowing of fabric treatment agents obtainable by reaction of aliphatic C.sub.8 -C.sub.22 mono-carboxylic acids or amide-forming derivatives thereof with polyamines and subsequent neutralization of unreacted amino groups is vastly improved by carrying out neutralization with phosphorous acid.

Abstract: A textile treatment composition comprising a mixture of (A) a dispersion accelerator selected from aldoses and ketoses; polyhydroxyl compounds obtained therefrom by hydrogenation; natural and synthetic hydrophilic polymers; and mixtures thereof; and (B) a fatty acid condensation product obtained by reacting aliphatic C.sub.8 -C.sub.22 monocarboxylic acids or amide-forming derivatives thereof with polyamines and subsequent neutralization of unreacted amino groups; a process for producing such composition; and methods for its use. Preferably, the polyamines correspond to the formula ##STR1## wherein: R is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, or hydroxyethyl,R.sup.1 is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, hydroxyethyl, or --(CH.sub.2).sub.n -NHR,n is 2 to 4, andm is 1 to 4.

Abstract: This invention is directed to quaternary compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical of from about 1 to 21 carbon atoms; R.sup.2 represents hydrogen or has the same meaning as R.sup.1, the total number of carbon atoms in R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 being from 6 to 22, and, when R.sup.2 is hydrogen, R.sup.1 has from 6 to 21 carbon atoms; R.sup.3 represents an alkyl or hydroxyalkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a radical of formula ##STR2## wherein R and R are devined above, X and Y are each either hydrogen or a methyl group, with the proviso that X and Y cannot both be a methyl group, and p is an integer of from 1 to 20; R.sup.4 represents an alkyl radical of from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; m and n are integers of from about 1 to 20; and A.crclbar. is an anion. The quaternary compounds are useful as fabric softeners.

Abstract: A smoothing agent for the treatment of textile fiber material comprising:(Ia) from 0 to 50% by weight of a higher fatty acid ester from a fatty acid and a monohydric alcohol,(Ib) from 0 to 50% by weight of a higher fatty acid ester from 1 mole of a polyhydric alcohol and more than one mole of a fatty acid,(IIa) from 0 to 50% by weight of a paraffin having a melting point range of 40.degree. to 60.degree. C.
