Patent number: 8491932Abstract: An oral drug delivery composition includes a sustained release component which includes a corticosteroid drug and which is contained within a capsule that has been treated so that the sustained release component is predominately released from the capsule in the intestine following oral administration. A drug delivery composition for delivering a corticosteroid drug to the intestine also includes: (a) a sustained release component comprising a corticosteroid drug, an alkali-containing ethylcellulose material and an acid; and (b) a delayed release component which substantially prevents release of the sustained release component until the composition reaches the intestine following oral administration. The compositions of the invention are useful for treating inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and for treating glomerulonephritis.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2009Date of Patent: July 23, 2013Assignee: Archimedes Development LimitedInventors: Peter Watts, Ann Margaret Dyer

Publication number: 20110257632Abstract: In the field of pain relief and treatment there is a need for a device which is able to administer several predetermined doses of an opioid analgesic in a manner which can be done simply and safely by a patient or carer; in particular in a manner which minimises the risk of administering too great a dose at any one time. A device (10), for administering a predefined number (N) of predefined volume unit doses (Vu) of an opioid analgesic in liquid form, includes a closed container (12) which contains a predetermined fill volume (Vf) of the opioid analgesic, and a dispenser (14) that is connected to the container (12). The dispenser (14) is operable to administer an individual one volume unit dose (Vu) repeatedly said predefined number of times (N). Both the dispenser (14) is adapted, and the concentration of said opioid analgesic is chosen such that said volume unit dose is in the range 0.05 to 0.15 ml.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2009Publication date: October 20, 2011Applicant: ARCHIMEDES DEVELOPMENT LTD.Inventors: Jonathan Castile, Peter Watts, Alan Smith

Patent number: 7530532Abstract: A counterweight based rocket launch platform system and method uses gravity acting upon a counterweight to provide the initial assent for a rocket. This counterweight system is preferably built inside of a mountain so as to use the mountain as the supporting structure. By covering the exit opening with a thin membrane and closing the bottom, the system can have the air evacuated providing a free ascent without a terminal velocity. During the final moments of the ascent or after the rocket leaves the tube, the rocket will ignite carrying the payload into space. The velocity imparted to the rocket from the gravity assist in combination with bypassing the thickest part of the atmosphere will lower the amount of fuel required to lift payloads into space. This will result in increased payloads of existing rockets or the use of smaller and less expensive rockets.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2006Date of Patent: May 12, 2009Inventor: Keith Peter Watts
