  • Patent number: 9788744
Abstract: A patient advisory device (“PAD”) and its methods of use. The PAD may be configured to alert the patient about an estimated brain state of the patient. In preferred embodiments, the PAD is adapted to alert the patient of the patient's brain state, which corresponds to the patient's propensity of transitioning into an ictal brain state, e.g., having a seizure. Based on the specific type of alert, the patient will be made aware whether they are highly unlikely to have a seizure for a given period of time, an elevated propensity of having a seizure, a seizure is occurring or imminent, or the patient's brain state is unknown.

  • Patent number: 8732850
Abstract: A method for protecting data contents, in particular video data, is provided. The data contents are provided by a distribution application available in a communications network and may be loaded onto an output unit to be played back on this output unit. A current system utilization of the output unit is monitored or measured during playback of the loaded data contents on the output unit. This current system utilization is compared to an estimated standard system utilization of the output unit for the playback of data contents. If the current system utilization of the output unit exceeds the estimated standard system utilization during a predefined period, appropriate protective measures, such as interrupting playback of the data contents, a corresponding message to the distribution application, etc., are taken and carried out to protect the data contents.

  • Patent number: 8180908
Abstract: A business-to-vehicle platform functions as an information technology (IT) integration platform to support secure communication between a vehicle's onboard IT system and any offboard third-party IT system. In one embodiment, the a vehicle's communication hub is decoupled from all voice and data traffic to/from third-party service providers, such that the vehicles will “look and feel” like standard business IT devices to the third-party service providers. In certain embodiments, this decoupling enables the use of standardized business IT services in vehicles, rather than the traditional approach of requiring vehicle-specific embedded services.

  • Patent number: 7946571
Abstract: A method for controlling the feed of sheets to a sheet-fed printing press is provided for a sheet feeder unit comprising an individual drive assigned to each of a plurality of components provided for supplying the sheets in a stack, separating the sheets from a stack and supplying the sheets to the press. The method includes stopping at least two of the individual drives in a predefined position in a targeted manner when shutting down the feeder unit. The individual drives are operated in synchronization with one another during printing operation. The synchronization between the at least two individual drives is canceled when the sheet feeder unit is shut down. These drives are shut down individually and synchronized with one another when the sheet feeder unit is started up again such that in shutdown, each individual drive assumes a predefinable position.

  • Publication number: 20100296918
Abstract: A method is provided for determining the remaining service life of a rotor of a thermally loaded turboengine. In the method, a temperature on the rotor is determined, the thermal stress on the rotor is derived from the determined temperature, and the remaining service life of the rotor is deduced from the derived thermal stress. A simple, exact and flexible determination of the remaining service life is achieved in that the temperature is measured directly at a predetermined point of the rotor, and in that the thermal stress on the rotor is derived from the measured temperature.

  • Patent number: 7723516
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for treating triazine-containing water of a melamine plant. The method is characterized in that the water containing ionic and non-ionic triazines in a dissolved form is fed to at least one membrane filtration unit, the water is separated into an ionic triazine-rich fraction and a non-ionic triazine-rich fraction in the membrane filtration unit, whereupon the ionic triazine-rich fraction is discharged and the non-ionic triazine-rich fraction is redirected into the melamine plant. The inventive method allows a great portion of the melamine contained in the triazine-containing water to be redirected into the process while the yield is increased along the entire melamine process. Furthermore, the need for fresh water in the wet part of the melamine plant is decreased. The disclosed method can be carried out continuously and in liquid phase.
