Abstract: A location determination system and method in which a database stores details of locations of fixed landline or other communications devices alongside unique identifiers for these communications devices. These unique identifiers may be telephone numbers. The database can be queried to thereby determine the location of the communications device from the unique identifier. This will assist services such as the emergency services to determine locations of fixed communications devices such as landline telephones. The database can be in data communication with a server which can be accessed remotely if required.
