  • Publication number: 20080245918
Abstract: In a reel furnace having a strip reeling device, the strip reeling device comprising a reel shaft, a reel drum supported on the reel shaft and at least one stirrup clamp, the reel shaft passing through a furnace wall delimiting the inner space of the reel furnace and being supported rotatably in supporting bearings outside the reel furnace, the reel drum and the at least one stirrup clamp being positioned with respect to one another by means of a connection element, and a gap for receiving a strip head being set between the reel drum and the at least one stirrup clamp. The useful life of the reel drum is appreciably increased and a strip thickness-dependent setting of the entry gap for the hot-rolled strip is ensured when the reel drum is designed as a closed body and the connection element is designed as an actuating device for fixing a specific gap width between the reel drum and the stirrup clamp and for clamping a strip head which has entered the gap.

  • Patent number: 6037515
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing ethylene from a hydrocarbon feedstock, whereby the hydrocarbon feedstock is subjected to cracking. The crude gas thus produced undergoes quenching with water washing, crude gas compression, and crude gas drying and precooling. The gas is then sent to a separation section, wherein a C2/C3 separation of the precooled crude gas into a C2- stream and a C3+ stream is conducted. The C2- stream is sent through C2 hydrogenation, and the C3+ stream is separated into a C3 stream and a C4+ stream by means of a C3/C4 separation. According to the invention, when the process is started up, at times foreign ethylene and/or foreign C3 is fed to crude gas compression. In addition, a stream from C2 hydrogenation and a C3 stream from the C3/C4 separation are merged and recycled as a first recycle stream before crude gas compression.

  • Patent number: 5835524
Abstract: A scrap-melting electric arc furnace operating at an elevated melting power having a simple construction that also avoids thermal loads of the side wall caused by the electrodes. The electrodes are protected from damage during scrap-charging. The electric arc furnace includes a bottom for receiving a melt. An upper part rises from the bottom part and has side walls. A lid covers the upper part. A charging shaft is disposed approximately centrically relative to the upper part, and has a diameter that is substantially smaller than the diameter of the upper part. The charging shaft interior communicates with the furnace interior via an opening in the lid. Electrodes arranged approximately radially symmetrically are directed obliquely into the furnace interior and project toward the center of the electric arc furnace.

  • Patent number: 5087754
Abstract: N,N-dialkylanilines can be prepared by reacting the anilines on which they are based with lower alcohols or with the corresponding ethers, at an increased temperature in the gas phase in the presence of a proton-containing zeolite catalyst of the pentasil type having an SiO.sub.2 /Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 ratio of >60, it being advantageous to carry out the alkylation process under a pressure of 2-30 bar.

  • Patent number: 5055617
Abstract: Anilines or N-alkyl-anilines are advantageously reacted with alkyl alcohols or the associated dialkyl ethers at elevated temperature in the gas phase, if a .gamma.-Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 is used that is prepared by dehydration of an aluminum oxide/hydroxide hydrate and has a BET surface area from 50 to 400 m.sup.2 /g and a surface acidity of 5 to 600 mmol H.sup.+ /kg.

  • Patent number: 4318331
Abstract: At an armored vehicle containing a firing weapon, such as for instance a cannon, there is required an automatic loading apparatus, by means of which the rounds of ammunition or projectiles can be automatically infed to the firing weapon from an ammunition magazine arranged behind an armored turret of the armored vehicle. The loading apparatus removes the projectiles from two different containers. This loading apparatus comprises two withdrawal or removal devices, two pivot devices, a rotatable table containing two cartridge receiving locations or stations as well as an ammunition infeed device. This ammunition device comprises a lifting or hoisting device, a loading cradle or shell and a rammer.

  • Patent number: 4047535
Abstract: An apparatus for producing radial perforations in cigars or the like comprising a pair of rotating rolls, one having axial recesses in the surface to receive the cigars and the other having opposed pressure application strips, and fine, sharp needles projecting into the recesses, whereby the cigars are perforated as the rollers rotate. A method for perforating cigars in which the surface layers of tobacco are perforated in a predetermined pattern so that there is no delamination of the leaves.
