  • Publication number: 20140060926
Abstract: A contact element for contacting a contact point formed on a body includes: an element section on the contact point side for a force-locking connection to the contact point, an element section on the connection side for connection to an electrical connection conductor, and an intermediate section which connects the two element sections to one another for compensating for thermal expansions. At least the element sections on the contact point side and on the connection side are made of different integrally bonded materials having material properties which are adapted to the functionality of the corresponding element section.

  • Publication number: 20130326038
Abstract: Upon receiving a request to improve one or more conditions of a datacenter network, a fault management system may analyze information of the datacenter network including communication patterns among services provided in the network. The fault management system determines one or more logical machines associated with one or more services to be moved from one or more devices to one or more other devices of the network. The fault management system may select these one or more logical machines for migration based on a cost function including factors for fault tolerance, bandwidth usage, number of moves and/or response time latency. The fault management system may improve the fault tolerance of the network without significantly affecting the bandwidth usage of the network.

  • Patent number: 8583623
Abstract: A method of pre-processing an XQuery on a XML data base and may comprise parsing the XQuery to obtain an abstract syntax tree and typing the abstract syntax tree to provide at least one pointer into a schema for XML documents of the XML data base. The typing step may involve the use of schema and accumulated instance data of the XML data base. Use of the accumulated instance data in addition to schema data allows for reduction of the set of pointers to a smaller set, which in turn reduces the number of documents to be examined when the query is executed.

  • Patent number: 8448164
Abstract: A computing system includes a service-oriented architecture (SOA) registry that includes an SOA-application description, an abstract component description, a concrete component description, and a platform description. The SOA-application description is related to the abstract component description of a component of the SOA-application. The concrete component description includes a requirement of a respective component for a target platform. The platform descriptor describes a property of the target platform. The computing system is configured to deploy the SOA-application and its respective components to the target platform in accordance with the concrete descriptions.

  • Patent number: 7546282
Abstract: Searching within elements of a hierarchically structured database. Each element may include one or more hierarchically structured nodes for defining attributes of the element. One or more nodes of the searched element may fulfill one or more search conditions (c0,ci, . . ). A plurality of codes may be searched and a unique identifier (EID) may be assigned to each of the selected nodes. A reference index may be created that allows to derive for each unique identifier (EID) of a selected node the corresponding element of the database. A set (L, Ei) of unique identifiers may be retrieved for each of the one or more search conditions for ancestor nodes, which fulfill the respective search condition. A final set of unique identifiers may be obtained. The searched elements of the database may be retrieved based on the final set of unique identifiers and the reference index.

  • Patent number: 7020698
Abstract: A scalable system and method for locating a closest server in response to a client request via an interactive distribution network, such as the Internet, are provided. A closest content server is defined as having the least round trip time for responding to a client request. The system including a plurality of content servers; and a local server in communication with a plurality of clients, the local server acting as a proxy for communicating client requests from clients to a redirection server. Client network distance and load information is periodically collected at each content server in the network from clients communicating with each of the respective content servers. The redirection server periodically aggregates the network distance and load information from each content server to create client clusters from both current and previously aggregated network distance and load information. Each client cluster represents a division or partition of the total IP address space.

  • Publication number: 20050232633
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for time-domain wavelength interleaved networking that reduce the need for complex time-slot scheduling and reduce the routing complexity. Substantially all communications in the time-domain wavelength interleaved network pass through a hub node. In addition, interior nodes in the time-domain wavelength interleaved network will forward substantially all communications received from the hub node that are destined for another node on all branches outward from the hub node. The central hub node can impose a timing reference. Thus, the transmission and reception of a message can be synchronized such that a message sent in a time-slot k by a node Ni will be received by a node Nj in the time-slot k. Further, the hub node can recover from a link failure by shifting transmission times of all nodes that are separated from the hub node by the failed link.

  • Patent number: 6602611
Abstract: The invention relates to a multi-layer composite plates and to a method for producing multi-layer composite plates. Said multi-layer composite plates are comprised of two outer metallic slabs which serve as top and base plates and which are joined to a deformable connecting material located therebetween. The top and base plates are joined to the connecting material by means of a foaming adhesive which fills the cavities remaining in the composite. The cavities remaining in the composite are completely or partially filled by the adhesive. According to the method for producing multi-layer composite plates, adhesive is introduced between the layers to be joined, and the adhesive is subjected to a thermal treatment. The adhesive is completely or partially hardened during the thermal treatment. In the case of the partially hardened adhesive, the adhesive is completely hardened during an additional thermal treatment only after the multi-layer composite plate is reshaped.
