  • Patent number: 4784800
Abstract: Highly concentrated (60-95% active matter) foaming detergent compositions in liquid or gel form contain dialkyl sulphosuccinate, alkyl ether sulphate and/or ethoxylated nonionic detergent, optionally a fatty acid diethanolamide, optionally urea, and a solvent system of water plus optional lower alcohol, the molar proportion of ammonium ions being such that they constitute at least 50 mole % of the total cations, and being such that the dialkyl sulphosuccinate is at least partially in ammonium salt form.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 17, 1986
Date of Patent: November 15, 1988
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventors: Francis J. Leng, Jacob Lucassen, David A. Reed, Philip J. Sams, Peter Winterbotham
  • Patent number: 4734221
Abstract: Stable, high-concentration (60-80% active matter) aqueous liquid detergent compositions based on dialkyl sulphosuccinates and alkyl ether sulphates contain a lower alcohol, preferably ethanol, and water, the ratio of lower alcohol to water exceeding a critical ratio which varies with the total active detergent content. The compositions may be thickened by means of hydroxypropyl guars, polyethylene oxides, or hydrophilically substituted cellulosic polymers such as hydroxyethyl cellulose.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 14, 1987
Date of Patent: March 29, 1988
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventors: Robert J. Edwards, Paul D. Hardman, Melvin Scott, Carey J. Walsh, Peter Winterbotham
  • Patent number: 4734223
Abstract: High-concentration (60-80% active matter) detergent compositions in the form of stable, translucent, mobile gels based on dialkyl sulphosuccinates and alkyl ether sulphates, and containing a lower alcohol and water, are disclosed. For stability, the ratio of lower alcohol to water should be below a certain critical value that varies with the total active detergent level.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 14, 1987
Date of Patent: March 29, 1988
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
    Inventor: Peter Winterbotham
  • Patent number: 4434089
Abstract: The foaming performance in hard water of dishwashing detergent compositions containing dialkyl sulphosuccinates is enhanced by including in the composition a substantially water-soluble substantially undegraded protein, such as soluble casein, sodium caseinate, soluble gelatin or chicken egg albumen.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 22, 1982
Date of Patent: February 28, 1984
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventors: Reginald Billington, David J. Edge, Peter Winterbotham
  • Patent number: 4434088
Abstract: The foaming performance in hard water of dishwashing detergent compositions containing dialkyl sulphosuccinates is enhanced by including in the composition a substantially water-soluble protein having a Bloom gel strength of at least 50 g, preferably from 150 to 300 g and especially from 200 to 250 g. The protein is advantageously a gelatin.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 22, 1982
Date of Patent: February 28, 1984
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventors: Reginald Billington, David J. Edge, Peter Winterbotham
  • Patent number: 4144201
Abstract: An improved cleaning composition, comprising an amine oxide, an alkylether sulphate, casein and optionally other nonionic detergent compounds and an organophosphorus compound. The composition, which is free from alkylbenzene sulphonates, alkyl sulphonates and alkyl sulphates, has improved drain-dry properties and improved mildness properties.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 3, 1977
Date of Patent: March 13, 1979
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
Inventors: Peter Winterbotham, Jeffrey D. Hampson
  • Patent number: 4079020
Abstract: A dishwashing composition comprising an active-detergent system containing a secondary alkyl sulphonate/sulphate and an alkylethersulphate or a nonionic surface-active compound, which includes a small amount of casein, said dishwashing composition having good drain-dry properties, obviating cloth-drying of the washed articles.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 4, 1976
Date of Patent: March 14, 1978
    Assignee: Lever Brothers Company
