Patent number: 12333062Abstract: Various systems and methods are presented regarding utilizing technology to determine a vehicle occupant's reaction to a soundscape present in a passenger compartment in which they are located. Sound waves present in the soundscape can result for sources internal and external to the vehicle, as well as sound waves transmitted into the passenger compartment as part of an audio technique, such as audio suppression, audio enhancement, anti-noise, audio cancellation, etc. Occupant feedback can be via a button, gesture recognition, speech, a physical condition, and suchlike, and can indicate approval or disapproval of the soundscape. Location of the vehicle can be determined based on GPS data, images of the operating environment, etc. The network of devices can be clocked with a common protocol to enable synchronization of fused data.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2023Date of Patent: June 17, 2025Assignee: Volvo Car CorporationInventors: Peter Winzell, Jon Seneger

Patent number: 12216658Abstract: Various systems and methods are presented regarding mapping attributes in a first dataset with attributes in a second dataset. Rather than simply applying a static approach of matching a first attribute in the first dataset with a first attribute in the second dataset, etc., an importance of a particular attribute can be identified to assist in accurate matching versus another attribute that does not have as much importance in the matching process. For example, a DESCRIPTION attribute can have greater importance than a DATATYPE attribute, e.g., as a function of the number of terms available to be matched in a DESCRIPTION than in a DATATYPE field. By identifying the degree of matching of an important attribute, the matched values of lesser important parameters can be dynamically adjusted based on the degree of matching of the important attribute. Such an approach enables vast amounts of datasets to be automatically matched.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2023Date of Patent: February 4, 2025Assignee: Volvo Car CorporationInventor: Peter Winzell

Patent number: 11842715Abstract: A vehicle noise cancellation system and method, operable for: receiving local contextual information affecting a soundwave present in a vehicle; receiving remote contextual information affecting the soundwave present in the vehicle; receiving vehicle occupant information; processing the local contextual information, the remote contextual information, and the vehicle occupant information to generate an augmented anti-soundwave; and delivering the augmented anti-soundwave to an occupant of the vehicle to mitigate the soundwave present in the vehicle. Delivering the augmented anti-soundwave to the occupant of the vehicle to mitigate the soundwave present in the vehicle may include delivering the first augmented anti-soundwave to an occupant present in the first zone of the vehicle and delivering the second augmented anti-soundwave to an occupant present in the second zone of the vehicle using a plurality of speakers.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2021Date of Patent: December 12, 2023Assignee: Volvo Car CorporationInventors: Jon Seneger, Peter Winzell

Publication number: 20230367778Abstract: A method and system for vehicle unique signal to vehicle general signal matching, such that proprietary vehicle signals can be mapped and translated to corresponding Vehicle Signal Specification (VSS) signals or the like, facilitating all types of connected vehicle functionalities. A candidate ranking algorithm is based on the lexical elements of signal names and their semantic descriptions. Furthermore, units and data types may also be used to further enhance candidate suggestions. For candidate storage and generation, a knowledge graph using a graph database is suggested. Methods for automatic translation code generation are also suggested, which occurs when a one-to-one mapping is lacking. The algorithms may be implanted in vehicle or in the cloud, and mappings may be constrained to a schema dictated by a given use case, or may be more extensive and cached for future use.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 9, 2023Publication date: November 16, 2023Inventor: Peter WINZELL

Patent number: 11769411Abstract: The present disclosure provides a set of tools that enable traffic safety developments across multiple participants and industries, with location and other safety related data being shared in an anonymized fashion. Specifically, a location based server is provided that implements a vulnerable road user protocol. This vulnerable road user protocol avoids the use of global vehicle identification numbers and does not utilize persistent storage for such information, thereby mitigating location based privacy concerns. Further, the present disclosure provides a “hybrid” simulation engine that can be used to tailor and provide specific road user alerts, and specifies a risk assessment module that acts as a logic for quantifying the risk level associated with each unique road user relationship. Finally, the present disclosure provides an alert methodology for certain vulnerable road users based on noise-cancelling headphone and 3D audio algorithm technologies.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 2020Date of Patent: September 26, 2023Assignee: Volvo Car CorporationInventors: Peter Winzell, Jonas Fenn

Patent number: 11151396Abstract: Real time vehicle occupant emergency health data systems and methods that link a vehicle subsystem, a cloud subsystem, and a public health profile subsystem such that, in a triggering vehicle emergency event or the like, the health status of a previously-identified or unidentified vehicle occupant is captured in real time by an on-board camera and/or other sensor. This vehicle occupant identification and health status information are variously transmitted to the cloud, where the vehicle occupant identification is coupled with available public health profile information, in the case of a previously-identified vehicle occupant. Subsequently, the health status information and public health profile information are transmitted to an emergency responder or the like, thereby aiding in rendering medical assistance to an injured or sick vehicle occupant. The systems and methods of the present disclosure may also provide data analytics information that may be used later to improve vehicle safety.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2020Date of Patent: October 19, 2021Assignee: Volvo Car CorporationInventors: Aswathy Surendran, Peter Winzell
