  • Patent number: 6228444
Abstract: A tubular structure comprising reinforcing fibers impregnated with a thermosetting polymer and a sheet of matrix material filled with an additive suitable for improving tribological and heat conductivity characteristics of the tubular structure. The reinforcing fibers alternate with the matrix material. The tubular structure is formed by winding the reinforcing fiber fabric and the matrix sheet material, wherein the fabric and the matrix sheet material have first and second ends and the first ends are located in the interior of the winding and the second ends are radially outwardly displaced from the first ends.

  • Patent number: 6186512
Abstract: A mounted piston ring for a piston/cylinder unit. The piston ring covers a circumferential surface of the piston and seals it off from the cylinder. The piston ring has a width which is greater than the height of the circumferential surface, so that there is an axially projecting length of the piston ring relative to the piston. This axially projecting length is shaped into a spring end which is axially supported on a top side of the piston. One spring end having a circular-arc-shaped transition which is designed to be between 90° and 180°, and which spring end comes to bear on the first top side of the piston. The other spring end having an annular bearing surface, comes to bear in the region of the opposite second top side of the piston. In this region the other spring end, with respect to the shaping angle, is adapted to the angle between the circumferential surface and the second top side.

  • Patent number: 6054690
Abstract: A heating element includes at least one substrate, at least one electrical resistance layer, and a binder configured to bind the electrical resistance layer to the substrate, wherein the binder has a melting temperature greater than an operating temperature of the heating element and includes a perfluorinated polymer.

  • Patent number: 5935378
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a composite material in the form of an annular tube by winding on a mandrel both a reinforcing fiber fabric and a sheet of matrix material, comprising the following steps: 1) preheating the mandrel to a predetermined temperature; 2) fixing the reinforcing fiber fabric and the sheet of matrix material to the mandrel; 3) causing the mandrel to rotate at a nominal speed to wind the fabric and the sheet simultaneously, the fabric and the sheet being subjected to a nominal tension; 4) actuating heating means for heating the material and cooling means for cooling the mandrel; 5) when the tube reaches the desired diameter, stopping both the heating means and the rotation of the mandrel; 6) after a determined duration that is sufficient for bringing the temperature of the mandrel to the predetermined preheating temperature, stopping the cooling means; and 7) dismounting the mandrel.

  • Patent number: 5655634
Abstract: A shock absorber with an affixed or clamped-on piston ring for a piston-cylinder unit, whereby the piston ring covers a lateral surface of the piston and creates a seal with respect to the cylinder, characterized by the fact that the piston ring has a width which is greater than the lateral surface, so that there is a projecting end of the piston ring with respect to the piston, which projecting end is shaped into a spring end which is supported on the cover side on the piston.

  • Patent number: 4632947
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of producing a polytetrafluorethylene material comprising filler particles embedded therein. In fact, the mechanical characteristics of most synthetic materials can be improved by the inclusion of filler particles. Nevertheless, tests performed to embed filler particles in PTFE have unexpectedly resulted in the reduction of essential mechanical characteristics (tensile strength, rupture elongation) due to this inclusion. According to the invention, this disadvantage is prevented by a method according to which the filler particles are coated with an in melted condition relatively low viscous and/or polar perfluoralkoxy copolymer (PFA), tetrafluorethylene-perfluorpropylene copolymer (FEP) or mixtures thereof serving as adhesive agent before mixing them with polytetrafluorethylene. This permits to obtain substantial improvement of the mechanical properties.
