  • Publication number: 20060013895
Abstract: The invention concerns the use of a composition containing at least one organic or inorganic compound or substance combination that releases chlorine or bromine in aqueous solution, as well as whenever appropriate, a surface-active substance (tenside) or substance mixture, aromatic materials, adjuvants and binders for the disinfection of dental objects such as toothbrushes, dentures or razors and the like contaminated by retro or herpes viruses, pseudomonas aeruginosa and/or candida or parts of the body that have been attacked by retro or herpes viruses, pseudomonas aeruginosa and/or candida.

  • Patent number: 6814085
Abstract: A colored dental floss that changes color when passed between the teeth. The dental floss is coated or impregnated with one or more agents that facilitate the color change by mechanically rubbing the floss against the oral hard tissue or by chemical reaction or both. In addition, the dental floss can be impregnated or coated with an agent that indicates the present of bacterial, disease, virus, infection or the like. Furthermore, the dental floss can be coated or impregnated with a medicament or anti-microbial agent for treat or prevention of disease and the like.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 28, 2001
Date of Patent: November 9, 2004
Inventors: Steven J. Brattesani, Dean Swift, Peter Wollwage

  • Patent number: 4933202
Abstract: In a process for improving the adhesion of plastics to metals in the production of dental prostheses, in which a silicon dioxide layer is applied to the metal surface and subsequently silanized and then the plastic and metal bonded together the improvement consisting essentially of, forming the silicon dioxide layer by (1) applying a silica sol or dispersion of very finely divided silica to the metal surface and (2) baking the sol or dispersion at a temperature of 100.degree. to 800.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 4787850
Abstract: A process for producing artificial teeth or parts thereof is given, in which a mass of at least one polyfunctional isocyanate, at least one polyol and at least one methacrylate monomer, as well as in each case one catalyst for the polymerization of the methacrylate monomer and for the acceleration of the formation of a urethane is hardened in a first stage to an elastic blank, which can then be cured in a second stage to artificial teeth or parts thereof. A storage-stable dental material for performing the process comprises two components, namely at least one polyfunctional isocyanate as the first component and the remaining constituents as the second component.

  • Patent number: 4281991
Abstract: Dental prosthetic devices, such as artificial teeth, crowns, bridges and replacements for parts of teeth are provided comprising hardened resin dental materials containing at least one polymer and a finely divided inorganic filler, said filler being present in an amount of about 10 to 90% based on the weight of the material and having a particle size within the range of 10 to 400 millimicrons, said materials having an extremely high compressive strength, clear opalescence and a very smooth homogeneous surface.

  • Patent number: 4267097
Abstract: Polymerizable dental materials are provided containing at least one polymerizable monomer and/or polymer and a finely divided inorganic filler, said filler being present in an amount of about 10 to 90% based on the weight of the material and having a particle size within the range of 10 to 400 m.mu., said material when polymerized having an extremely high compressive strength, excellent transparency and a very smooth homogeneous surface.
