  • Patent number: 5573482
Abstract: Enhanced body movements and optimum exercising effects are realized in a riding type exercising apparatus which includes separated hand drive and leg drive mechanisms, wherein the hand drive mechanism is located behind the body of the user so that when the user pulls on handles of the hand drive mechanism and pushes pedals of the leg drive mechanism, the handles travel an arcuate path about a pivot point at the hand drive mechanism so that the handles are disposed at a final point that is higher than their starting point. Simultaneously, a seat supporting the user is caused to move forwardly and upwardly in the opposite direction of the handles to prevent unrestricted large arm movements by the user.

  • Patent number: 5569130
Abstract: An improved rowing machine includes two main frames, a rear horizontal tube, two rowing bars, a link, a support bar and an action column. A user may ride on a slidable seat of the action column with both feet placed against two pedals at both sides of a front end portion thereof, with both hands pulling the rowing bars. The link drives the support bar to elevate the action column to move on its pivot, so actual rowing may be imitated to achieve exercising effects. As the pivot of the action column is located near the user's side, the slanting angle of the action column when elevated may be reduced to ensure safety. When pressed against by the user's feet, the pedals will provide an auxiliary lifting force according to the lever principle, this facilitating the user's application of force at the rowing bars.

  • Patent number: 5569138
Abstract: A multi-purpose exercising apparatus includes a mounting base securely provided with a horizontal seat cushion and a vertical backrest. A hollow top side of a backrest tubular body at a rear side of said backrest is connected to two adjusting mechanisms which are respectively connected to a support arm. A tensile arm is disposed below the seat cushion at a front edge thereof. A damping mechanism is disposed within the mounting base. The damping mechanism consists of three resilient ropes wound around revolving shafts, in which two of the ropes respectively pass around pulley sets to be pulled out from their corresponding support arms. The two ropes are then fixedly connected to two rings or a lever. The third rope is fixedly connected to the tensile arm. By means of pressing a button of the adjusting mechanism to adjust the angles of the support arms, the user may exercise the triceps or muscles of the arms, chest, legs or abdomen as desired.

  • Patent number: 5549535
Abstract: A body building station includes three juxtaposed posts extending downwardly from the underside of a securing seat of a seat of a frame. The side posts are pivotally connected to two rocker arms along the front side of the frame to form a leg exercising mechanism, while the central post is pivotally connected to a rotary frame at the rear side of the frame to form a twisting mechanism. Both tips of the rotary frame are connected to a bent press bar to form an abdominal exercising mechanism. Rubber resistance elements may be selectively positioned at suitable locations of the frame to facilitate the carrying out of different exercises.

  • Patent number: 5529561
Abstract: A leg press includes an adjustable foot-rest structure provided near the bottom of a front erect column of a main body for the user to rest his feet thereon as a pivot when doing scissors exercises of the thighs. Two separate cushions are provided on top of two corresponding swing arms. The cushions may synchronously move with the user's thighs to reduce the load of the legs' weight in exercising.

  • Patent number: 5510574
Abstract: An electric shielding metal shell having two symmetrical rectangular-shaped metal casings connected together to hold a receptacle and an electric wire covered within a braided earthed robe, so that the braided earthed robe with the electric wire extends out of said metal casings through a wire hole in the metal casings. The metal casings each have a respective unitary, open loop-like binding strip extending around the wire hole in either direction that are connected to each other to hold the braided earthed tube and the electric wire. The tail of either binding strip is inserted into a locating hole on the opposite binding strip and the hook of either binding strip is received in one of a series of retaining holes on the opposite binding strip.

  • Patent number: 5484358
Abstract: An automatic magnetic controller is linked with a computer to process a formula for the relationship between the wattage and the expended calories. Then the desired numbered of calories will be accurately exhausted based on a relative arrangement between a magnetic member and a flywheel by means of a motor controller and a position controller. By this arrangement, the tension can be accurately calculated based on the rotations per minute of the flywheel. The tension is continuously arranged and adjusted to make the wattage remain at a constant value. Additionally, the number of calories remaining to be exhausted is displayed on the computer. In this manner, the exhausted calories can be accurately controlled. The magnetic controller controls the tension on the flywheel such that at high flywheel speeds, the tension is smaller, and on the contrary, the lower the flywheel speed, the higher the tension.

  • Patent number: 4698793
Abstract: A method of sonic logging in which there is established at a depth of interest in a borehole a set of peak matrices comprised of peak vectors representative of a plurality of different characteristics of sonic signals traversing an earth formation. A set of rules is established based upon borehole sonic characteristics including the utilization of past histories of slowness and coherence values of wave components of interest. The matrices are searched in accordance with the rules to identify the presence in the sonic signals of wave components of interest, such, for example, as casing, compressional, shear and Stoneley. The identified wave components are recorded as a function of depth of interest, and the aforesaid steps are repeated at each depth of interest.
