  • Patent number: 7172087
Abstract: A plastic container includes a finish, a shoulder extending from the finish, a closed base, and a sidewall connecting the shoulder to the base. The sidewall is of blow molded construction and generally uniform wall thickness. The sidewall has an array of circumferentially spaced longitudinally extending radially recessed channels, and an array of axially spaced circumferentially extending radially recessed channels intersecting the longitudinally extending channels. The longitudinally extending channels have radially inner portions that lie on an hourglass-shaped common surface of revolution around the axis of the container sidewall. In the preferred embodiments of the invention, a plurality of axially and circumferentially spaced land areas are disposed in spaces between the intersecting longitudinally and circumferentially extending channels, with the land areas lying on a common surface of revolution, preferably a cylindrical surface of revolution, around the axis of the container sidewall.

  • Patent number: 7097061
Abstract: A container includes a hollow body having a finish extending from the body. The finish has an open end, at least one external thread for securement of a closure, and a pair of spaced external circumferential flanges on a side of the thread remote from the open end of the finish. A bale handle includes a ring having resilient internal tabs captured beneath the lower of the flanges remote from the open end of the finish, and a handle extending from the ring for carrying the container. The upper flange, which preferably has a greater outside diameter than the lower flange, has an undersurface that is free of obstruction from the bale handle and therefore is adapted to perform support functions for the container after attachment of the bale handle to the container finish.

  • Patent number: 6838350
Abstract: A method for fabricating a bipolar transistor includes forming a first region of a first conductivity type in a semiconductor structure to form a collector region and forming a second region of a second conductivity type in the first region to form a base region. A first mask is applied including an opening defining an emitter region of the bipolar transistor. The method further includes a triple implantation process using the first mask. Thus, a third region of the first conductivity type is formed in the first region and overlaid the second region. A fourth region of the second conductivity type is formed in the second region and is more heavily doped than the second region. A fifth region of the first conductivity type is formed in the second region and above the fourth region. The fifth region forms the emitter region of the bipolar transistor.

  • Publication number: 20040129598
Abstract: A plastic container includes a plastic body having a polygonal sidewall contour with rounded corners on a cylinder of revolution and flat panels extending between the corners chordally of the cylinder of revolution. In the preferred embodiments of the invention, a label is disposed on an exterior surface of at least one of the flat panels, and most preferably extends circumferentially around the exterior surface of the container sidewall. Upon filling the container with hot liquid and capping the container, the flat panels bow radially inwardly as the liquid cools. However, any labeling placed on the container, either before or after cooling, is secured to the panels as well as the rounded corners, and does not wrinkle or crinkle during storage or use.

  • Publication number: 20040124169
Abstract: A tamper-indicating closure for a beverage package includes a base wall having a peripheral skirt with at least one internal thread for securing the closure to a container. A tamper-indicating band is frangibly connected to an edge of the skirt, and a stop flange extends axially and radially from an edge of the band for abutment with a stop bead on the container finish. A plurality of circumferentially spaced drain openings extend axially through the juncture of the band and the flange. A plurality of circumferentially spaced channels extend axially through the internal thread on the closure skirt, with at least some of the channels being axially aligned with the drain openings. The stop bead on the container is in the form of a plurality of circumferentially spaced bead segments separated from each other by circumferential gaps.

  • Patent number: 6112924
Abstract: A blow-molded container has a central axis, a neck and a cylindrical sidewall connected with the neck, generally centered about the central axis and having an end. A generally hemispherical base wall encloses the end of the sidewall. A plurality of legs extend from and are circumferentially spaced about the base wall. Each leg has a radially outermost portion offset inwardly from the sidewall and toward the central axis. An upper portion of each leg connects the leg with the base wall and has a radially outermost edge offset toward the central axis with respect to the sidewall. Preferably, each leg includes a leg sidewall having a generally cylindrical portion, a first, open end integrally formed with the base wall and a second end. An end wall encloses the second end of the leg sidewall and has a generally flat section providing a foot surface configured to support the container on a surface. Preferably, the leg sidewall has a closed perimeter extending proximal the open end.
