    Abstract: Image flicker can be prevented by applying vertical image compression to the entrance screen of a television pick-up tube in a X-ray imaging system. To this end, an X-ray imaging system is provided with an anamorphic optical system. The compressed image is displayed on a television monitor in the correct proportions when the image detection face, scanned by the electron beam, in the television pick-up tube is adapted in conformity with the image compression.
