Publication number: 20240139458Abstract: This disclosure discloses a tracheal intubation device designed to improve safety during intubation attempts. The device allows for the delivery of medical gas (such as oxygen) flow through the endotracheal tube itself during intubation attempts. This moves the source of apneic oxygen lower in the patient's airway to bypass anatomy that otherwise can obstruct medical gas flow. The device can also switch on-demand to generating suction through the endotracheal tube to clear away fluids that block the intubator's view and that block medical gas flow. There are currently no devices that can deliver both medical gas and on-demand suction using the endotracheal tube as the flow conduit during the process of intubation. The present device accomplishes these tasks while incorporating non-obvious elements to optimize its use and efficacy.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 3, 2023Publication date: May 2, 2024Inventors: DIANE SOARES, MARK OLIVER TESSARO, CENGIZ KARSLI, PETER ALEXANDER GORDON

Publication number: 20200360229Abstract: This disclosure relates to device for providing continuous negative abdominal pressure (CNAP) which selectively recruits (inflates) the dorsal (spinal region) collapsed areas of the lung, while enabling the patient to remain in the supine (usual) position. The CNAP device includes a rigid frame configured to have a shape and size to envelop a patient's lower chest and abdominal area while in a supine position with the frame having opposed edges which sit on a surface on which the supine patient is resting. A series of panels are mounted in the frame such that the series of panels extend around the patient's lower chest and abdominal area. A flexible sheet wrapped around the outside of the panels and is long enough to extend up to the patient's upper chest and down to the patients thighs and wide enough to envelop the supine patient's lower chest and abdominal area.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 21, 2018Publication date: November 19, 2020Inventors: BRIAN PATRICK KAVANAGH, DOREEN ENGELBERTS, TAKESHI YOSHIDA, THOMAS LOOI, PETER ALEXANDER GORDON, KEVIN AI XIN JUE LUO, RAMI SAAB

Publication number: 20200288266Abstract: A wireless mesh network comprises a controller and a plurality of wireless networked devices arranged to transmit messages to and receive messages from the controller. The plurality of devices are arranged in zones, such that a device that is arranged to communicate directly with the controller is designated a “Zone 1” device and a device that is arranged to communicate with the controller via a “Zone 1” device is designated a “Zone 2” device. One or more or each of the plurality of devices periodically sends a positioning message to the controller to determine its zone and if it can communicate directly with the controller it determines that it is a “Zone 1” device and if it cannot communicate directly with the controller, but it can communicate with the controller via a “Zone 1” device and therefore arranged to do so, it determines that it is a “Zone 2” device.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 3, 2018Publication date: September 10, 2020Applicant: TEXECOM LIMITEDInventors: Peter ALEXANDER, Clym BROWN

Publication number: 20200014421Abstract: A mesh network comprises a controller and a plurality of mesh-networked devices, operable to communicate with the controller. The controller and the plurality of mesh-networked devices comprise timing units, and are operable to communicate in accordance with a frequency hopping sequence. The mesh-networked devices switch between a transmit mode, in which they are capable of transmitting messages to one or more other mesh-networked device and/or the controller and an inactive mode, in which they are unable to transmit to or receive messages from one or more other mesh-networked devices or the controller. The timing units of the mesh-networked devices are synchronised and the mesh-networked devices are operable to switch to the transmit mode at pseudorandom time intervals.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 19, 2017Publication date: January 9, 2020Applicant: TEXECOM LIMITEDInventor: Peter ALEXANDER
