Abstract: A detent mechanism for a motor vehicle component has a pivotable holding part and a pivotable blocking part. The holding part is pivotable into a closing position and an open position about a holding part axis. A blocking state is produced by the blocking part being pivotable into a blocking position in which a blocking surface of the blocking part and a blocking surface of the holding part are in blocking engagement with each other and block a pivoting movement of the holding part out of the closing position in the direction of the open position. The blocking part is pivotable into a release position in which the blocking surfaces are disengaged from each other and release the holding part. In some cases, in the blocking state, a supporting surface of the blocking part and a supporting surface of the holding part are in axially supporting engagement with each other.
