The projectile comprises a weft storage chamber having an inlet opening at one end through which the filling is inserted into the chamber, an outlet opening at the opposite end of the projectile and an air passageway from the storage chamber to the outlet opening which by-passes the filling stored within the chamber so that airflow between the inlet and outlet ends does not affect the filling stored within the chamber.
