  • Patent number: 5887021
Abstract: A base station receiver and a method for receiving a signal in a base station receiver the service area of which is divided into sectors, the signal including multipath propagated signal components. To provide a preferred base station structure, the signal components received in each sector are converted in the method to an intermediate frequency and to digital form, the digitalized signal components are supplied by use of a sector-specific multiplexed bus to a plural number of correlation and spectrum assembling elements, in which each signal component is demodulated and assembled to narrowband form, and the demodulated signal components are supplied by connecting elements to a plural number of receiver-specific combining elements, in which the signals obtained from the different sectors are combined and detected.

  • Patent number: 5752165
Abstract: For automatically monitoring to detect that a receiver of in a diversity receiver unit which includes at least two receivers having respective antennas, is operating deficiently, signal levels as received in a plurality of corresponding receptions by each receiver are averaged for each receiver, the averages are compared with one another, and, if the averages differ by more than a preselected limit, an indication of existence of malfunction is provided.

  • Patent number: 5675628
Abstract: A subscriber identification module (SIM) for storing user-identities and other user specific information and thereby enabling access to the service of the radio system. One of the user identities is a Temporary Mobile Subscriber Identity (TMSI) used for user anonymity purposes by utilizing the TMSI as an alias for the actual user identity in order to avoid sending the actual user identity in the clear on the radio path. A part of the TMSI is a random number which cannot be used to identify the user/terminal without mapping information to the actual user identity, which is found in the telecommunications network entity that allocated the random number. SIM roaming from one radio system to another is possible by utilizing predetermined bits of TMSI to differentiate between different TMSI's of different systems by indicating in a uniform manner in all mobile radio systems the mobile radio system which has allocated the TMSI.
