  • Publication number: 20150208880
Abstract: Disclosed is a wipe dispenser for dispensing a continuous roll of centrally fed wipes. The dispenser includes a storage compartment for storing the roll of wipes. The storage compartment is made from a bottom wall, at least one side wall and a top wall including a dispensing opening. The dispenser includes a lid hingeably attached to the storage compartment. The lid includes a first inner cavity defined by a first inner surface. A maximum distance from the dispensing opening to the first inner surface is within a range that allows for an easy to grab portion of the wipe to stand essentially erect from the dispensing opening inside the lid when the lid is closed.

  • Patent number: 6987181
Abstract: The present invention relates to a polysaccharide having functional groups, wherein said groups are aldehyde groups formed at positions C2 and/or C3 as well as at position C6 of the anhydroglucose units of the polysaccharide chain. Preferably the polysaccharide is a cellulosic fibrous material whose primary and secondary hydroxyl groups of the cellulose are oxidized into aldehyde groups at least in part by means of TEMPO oxidation and periodate oxidation. The invention also concerns a paper or nonwoven comprising the above polysacaride. According to the invention a relative wet strength of more than 10% can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 6936710
Abstract: Primary hydroxyl groups in a substrate having both primary and secondary hydroxyl groups can be selectively oxidized to carbaldehyde and/or carboxyl groups by contacting the substrate with a cyclic nitroxyl compound in the presence of a peroxosulfate as a co-oxidant and by carrying out the reaction at a temperature below 30° C. and at a pH below 9. The process is halogen-free and metal-free and is especially suitable for oxidizing polysaccharides.

  • Patent number: 6824645
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cellulose-containing fibrous material, wherein hydroxy groups were oxidized at the C(6) of glucose units of the cellulose into aldehyde and/or carboxy groups, a paper or nonwoven (product) made therefrom, in particular tissue (products) and a process for their manufacture. The paper or nonwoven (products) of the invention display excellent strength properties.

  • Patent number: 6770755
Abstract: In a new process for oxidizing a primary and/or secondary alcohol, an oxidizing agent is used in the presence of a di-tertiary-alkyl nitroxyl, in an aqueous reaction medium at a pH of below 7. The di-tertiary-alkyl nitroxyl is especially 4-hydroxy-TEMPO, and the process is particularly advantageous for oxidizing carbohydrates such as starch.
