  • Publication number: 20020159089
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for generating a printout of a section of a global position-coding pattern in a system comprising a computer unit and a printer unit connected to the computer unit. The method is characterized by the steps of generating in the computer unit boundary information that describes the boundaries of the section in the global position-coding pattern; transmitting the boundary information from the computer unit to the printer unit; generating graphical information in the printer unit by means of an algorithm that defines the global position-coding pattern and on the basis of the boundary information, which graphical information describes pattern symbols in the section; and printing out the graphical information on a base by the printer unit.

  • Publication number: 20020091711
Abstract: A system for information management comprises a central unit (4) and a plurality of user units (2) which are arranged to record information and send the information to the central unit (4). Particulars are stored in the central unit (4) about a plurality of regions (101-105), each of which represents an area on at least one imaginary surface (5). One of the user units (2) records information which comprises at least two coordinates and sends the information to the central unit (4). When the central unit (4) receives the information from the user unit (2), it identifies to which region (101-105) the coordinates belong and determines how the information is to be managed, based on the region affiliation.

  • Publication number: 20020084335
Abstract: A product has a coding pattern on its surface. The coding pattern may include symbols representing at least two different values and where each symbol comprises a raster point and at least one marking. The raster point is included in a raster that extends over the surface and the value of each symbol is indicated by the placement of the marking in relation to the raster point. The markings may each have a spatial extent that, in combination, may at least partially form the image.

  • Publication number: 20020056576
Abstract: A method, a system and a product for managing information uses of an absolute position-coding pattern formed of marks positioned on one or more products. The coordinates of the marks define an imaginary surface, which includes all marks which the absolute position-coding pattern has the capacity to code. The imaginary surface is divided into at least two regions, the coordinates of which can be separated from each other. The information is generated by passing a sensor device over the marks on the product and reading the absolute coordinates of the position of the sensor device. Reading of coordinates from the first region results in a information management function of the sensor device, such as a send function, and reading of coordinates from the second region forms message information.

  • Publication number: 20020050982
Abstract: Disclosed is a form having a form layout with at least one entry field. It may be printed on a base in the form of a sheet (or any other surface). The surface of the base may have a position-coding pattern. The entry field can be completed using a user unit that has an optical sensor to detect positions on the sheet utilizing the position-coding pattern. The optical sensor can thereby enable digital recording of the information entered in the entry field. The surface may also have an identity pattern that can identify the form layout after recordation by the sensor of the locations defined by the identity pattern.

  • Publication number: 20020044138
Abstract: A method aims to identify a virtual raster pattern in an image of a surface that is provided with a plurality of position-coding marks. Each mark is associated with a respective intersection of raster lines belonging to the raster pattern. • Publication number: 20020044134
Abstract: In an input unit arrangement use is made of an input unit (300) in combination with a mouse pad (100), which is provided with a position-coding pattern which codes coordinates for a plurality of positions on the mouse pad (100). Areas (110-120) on the mouse pad (100) are provided with subsets of the position-coding pattern which are dedicated to different functions. The input unit (300) can be caused to optically read the position-coding pattern, whereupon the input unit arrangement decodes the positions that are coded locally on the mouse pad (100). By placing the input unit (300) within the various areas (110-120) on the mouse pad (100), a user can make the input unit arrangement carry out various functions, such as automatically switching from a mouse function, in which a cursor is controlled on a display (201) on the basis of the decoded position, to an input function, in which information via the input unit (300) is inputted into an electronic device (200), such as a computer, telephone, PDA etc.

  • Publication number: 20020040816
Abstract: A method and a computer program are described for developing a product (110), and services associated with the product, which product has at least one activation area (308) which is provided with a position code (403) that codes at least one position on an imaginary surface (601), which position causes a device (710) that detects the position code (403) to initiate an operation that utilizes information recorded by the device (710). A digital representation of at least part of the product comprising image points is produced, each image point in the digital representation of the activation area (308) corresponding to a position on the imaginary surface (601).

  • Publication number: 20020024542
Abstract: Systems and methods consistent with the present invention include a printer for printing graphical information on a surface. The printer includes a print head for printing indicia on the surface and an image sensor for recording an image of the surface. The recorded image contains a position-coding pattern that identifies a position on the surface. A processor converts the recorded image into a recorded position, and the print head then prints indicia on the surface based on a comparison of the recorded position with the graphical information to be printed.

  • Publication number: 20020011989
Abstract: Method and system for information association based on an absolute position coding pattern comprising dots or markings which codes coordinates for a position on an imaginary surface. The imaginary surface comprises several regions which are divided in areas, each defined by said coordinates. Handwritten information is digitized by a handheld device which is moved over a surface provided with said pattern and acts like a pen to make notes on the surface. At the same time, the pattern is sensed and coordinates for the pen is calculated regularly. By passing the handheld device over the borderline between areas having different coordinates, a hyperline is generated having a discontinuity. Such a hyperline is easily recognized by the computer system and is used for connecting information at different areas, giving information some properties, like color, or performing an action on the information, such as encryption, or transferring the information to a recipient.

  • Publication number: 20010035861
Abstract: An electronic device (200), such as a computer, a mobile phone or a PDA, is controlled by an arrangement comprising a handheld input unit (300), which records images and converts these to text strings comprising character sequences. The text strings recorded by the input unit (300) are used when controlling the electronic device (200). A signal-processing unit (210) receives the text strings, matches the format of a current text string to a format database comprising predetermined formats, each of which is associated with a command, and generates the command associated with the current text string, so as to control the electronic device (200) . The signal-processing unit (210) can search for an address in the current text string. If an address is found, the signal-processing unit (210) causes the electronic device (200) to connect to the address.

  • Publication number: 20010028741
Abstract: In a method for matching two images, each consisting of a plurality of pixels and having partially overlapping contents, the degree of correspondence between the contents of the images is determined for different displacement positions representing different overlappings of the images. More specifically, a plurality of numbers are determined for each one of a plurality of said displacement positions. Each number is formed with the aid of pixel values from both images and is used to simultaneously retrieve predefined overlap assessment values for at least two of said displacement positions. The overlap assessment values retrieved are subsequently used to determine the degree of correspondence between the images for the different displacement positions. The method is carried out with the aid of a computer and can be implemented as a computer program.
