    Abstract: A view controller, such as a scroll bar, for a first application which is currently displayed within an inactive window is detached and remotely displayed within an active window in addition to the view controller associated with the content of that active window. A Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) link is then established between the remotely displayed view controller and the first application such that user inputs to the remotely displayed view controller can be utilized to modify the display of the first application without requiring the user to activate the inactive window. In this manner data within the first application can be scrolled and visually accessed by the user while the user is working within an active window, without requiring the user to toggle the focus back and forth between two windows.

    Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for limiting the use of an application program by a user are provided. A cross-reference table containing a list of all users authorized to use a computer system as well as a list of all application programs installed on a computer system is used. The cross-reference table includes an amount of time that each user is authorized to use an application program. When a user tries to execute the application program, a check of the table is made to determine whether the user is authorized to use the program. If the user is authorized to use the program, the program will be allowed to execute and a timer will be activated. The timer is used to ensure that the user does not spend more time using the application program than allowed. Another check may be made to ensure that the user is not using the application program more often than allowed.

    Abstract: A signal processing system is provided which describes a method and apparatus to determine the absolute time of arrival of a transmitted signal and to determine the location of a transmitting device by determining the relative difference in time that a transmitted signal is received at three or more receivers which are spaced apart with respect to each other. The method and apparatus is applicable to all systems which transmit discrete signals or signals which comprise composite components. The system comprises a ramp detection component to track the arrival of the signal and to determine, to a high time resolution, the arrival of a signal by identifying a particular feature of the transmitted signal. The time-of-arrival of the signal is determined with reference to a timing circuit.

This vial is held in place by a guide that contains the seal for sealing the vial when it is raised in place.
