  • Publication number: 20240024145
Abstract: An assembly for a body joint orthotic that generates a distraction force to the joint that can be synchronized with the flexion of said joint. The hinge may be polycentric or unicentric. For a polycentric hinge, the distraction can be generated by varying the distance between the axes of rotation of the two pivot points. For a unicentric hinge, the distraction can be generated by increasing the length of at least one of the arms that connects the strapping element which holds the orthotic to the limb or body part to the hinge. The synchronization of the amount of distraction to the angle of flexion may be achieved by purely mechanical mechanisms or involving a motor.

  • Publication number: 20240009015
Abstract: An apparatus and methods for making for shoulder orthoses, which can control the position of the humeral head/arm relative to the shoulder joint by adjusting tension across the joint. The orthoses allows the user to modify the direction and magnitude of force applied while wearing the orthosis. The orthosis may contain cams or extensions to direct and amplify the force around the joint towards a specific range of motion. The orthoses can be made from digitally imaging joints and then partially or fully automating the design of orthosis.

  • Publication number: 20240000596
Abstract: A multi-axis rotation control ankle brace, wherein the direction and magnitude of force can be controlled around three axes of the ankle joint through an adjustable tensioning apparatus. The device may be applied to address conditions such as chronic ankle instability, foot drop, or osteoarthritis by providing such forces around the joint as an external-muscle tendon system to improve function, reduce pain, or restore mobility of the user. While more are contemplated herein, five preferred embodiments are specifically disclosed in the current application. Three preferred embodiments comprise a proximal portion and a distal portion, wherein the proximal portion is anchored above the ankle joint and houses, in aspects, the adjustment mechanism. The proximal portion is connected to the distal portion by tensioning or compressive elements, through which threes can be controlled by the user via the adjustment mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20220222709
Abstract: Providing a state of desired effects (SDES) simultaneously on one or more presentation devices using a system having one or more switchers, each switcher having a unique identification code, activation parameters that control when the switcher is operable to send activation signals, and one or more triggers. Each trigger has a trigger identification code associated with a set of one or more presentation devices or associated with another switcher and another trigger, and triggering criteria relating to an occurrence of a particular event. One method includes activating a first switcher, receiving, at the activated first switcher, event information indicative of the occurrence of a particular event, determining if the event information meets triggering criteria for a trigger of the first switcher, and in response to the event information meeting triggering criteria for a trigger of the first switcher, activating the trigger of the first switcher that meets the triggering criteria.

  • Patent number: 11313684
Abstract: During GPS-denied/restricted navigation, images proximate a platform device are captured using a camera, and corresponding motion measurements of the platform device are captured using an IMU device. Features of a current frame of the images captured are extracted. Extracted features are matched and feature information between consecutive frames is tracked. The extracted features are compared to previously stored, geo-referenced visual features from a plurality of platform devices. If one of the extracted features does not match a geo-referenced visual feature, a pose is determined for the platform device using IMU measurements propagated from a previous pose and relative motion information between consecutive frames, which is determined using the tracked feature information.
