  • Patent number: 8006654
Abstract: A method and a system for operating an eight-stroke internal combustion engine having higher thermal efficiency than a four-stroke engine is disclosed. The strokes comprise intake (FIG. 1), compression (FIG. 2), combustion for a first power stroke (FIG. 3), exhaust (FIG. 4), vapor or water injection for a second power stroke (FIG. 5), exhaust (FIG. 6), vapor injection for a third power stroke (FIG. 7), and exhaust (FIG. 8). Heat from each exhaust is recovered and recycled to a subsequent stroke. Consequently, an engine with much higher thermal efficiency and thus lower fuel consumption is achieved.

  • Publication number: 20110112962
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media for facilitating the exchange of reciprocal deposits are disclosed. According to one aspect, the subject matter described herein includes a system for facilitating the exchange of reciprocal deposits. The system includes a first bank for participating in an exchange of reciprocal deposits and a control center for implementing an exchange of reciprocal deposits between the first bank and a second bank for receiving deposits. The control center is configured to receive, from the first bank, a first request for placement of reciprocal deposits, the request defining a first set of requirements, and receive, from the second bank, a second request for placement of reciprocal deposits, the request defining a second set of requirements. The control center determines whether the first set of requirements matches the second set of requirements, which include maturity and interest rate.

  • Publication number: 20090064419
Abstract: A mattress (2), comprising: a resilient body having at least one upper surface portion for supporting a person (such as a small child or baby); and a plurality of surface channels (30) disposed in the or each upper surface portion and extending parallel thereto. The upper surface portions (for example three, including separate surface portions for supporting the head and the body) are inclined relative to the horizontal (or preferably, suitably anatomically sloped). The surface channels (30) have a component of direction in the direction of rising slope. In consequence, warm air that has been heated by contact with the person's body, in order to rise, passes along the surface channel (30) and out to the surrounding atmosphere. Thus, heat is dissipated away from the person's body and helps to prevent overheating.
