  • Patent number: 6719772
Abstract: A retaining device for axially restraining a sheath connected to a housing and a dilator connected to a hub includes a generally C-shaped clip having spaced apart circumferential ends defining a clearance opening that opens into the clip interior to permit the clip to be mounted on the hub and an enlarged part of the housing. The interior of the clip has first and second inwardly directed ridges located at opposite axial portions of the curved inner circumferential surface for overlapping portions of oppositely facing end surfaces of the hub and the enlarged part of the housing. The clip also includes one or more laterally outwardly extending finger engaging tabs to facilitate removal of the clip, and one or more circumferentially extending through slot communicating the inner surface of the clip with an outer surface of the clip to permit flexing of the clip during removal of the clip.

  • Patent number: 5448734
Abstract: Method and apparatus in a computer system for communicating messages between message sending and message receiving processes, without the need of providing a system registry of receiving processes and message types. A process wishing to receive messages of type X creates a named pipe having name X. A process wishing to send a message of type X to other interested processes in the system opens every instance of the name pipe X and writes the message to each instance. The system automatically alerts the receiving process on the other end of a pipe instance and, in response, the receiving process reads the message from the named pipe.

  • Patent number: 4132291
Abstract: A caliper type disc brake has friction lining carriers which are retained by thrust plates. Each thrust plate is secured to the caliper housing by a pivot bolt and at least one cap screw. When the cap screw or screws of a thrust plate are removed, that thrust plate can be rotated about its associated pivot bolt, thereby permitting removal and replacement of its associated friction lining carrier or carriers without complete disconnection of the thrust plate from the caliper. The thrust plate can then be rotated back into position and resecured by cap screw or screws.

  • Patent number: 4093043
Abstract: A caliper brake having a brake disc rotatable about an axis with a friction lining carrier mounted for sliding movement axially of the brake disc on a supporting caliper housing. The lining carrier has two circumferentially spaced ends with an opening at one end for receiving a torque pin mounted on the caliper housing for axial sliding movement of the carrier on the pin. A slot is provided at the other end for receiving a retention pin which is mounted on the caliper housing for axial sliding movement of the carrier on the retention pin. The retention pin is positioned in the slot with sufficient clearance to accommodate movement in the circumferential direction due to expansion and contraction of the carrier during braking.
