Patent number: 7908239Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for aggregating event data in order to reduce the amount of storage space necessary to store event data for later use in statistical analyses of the event data. The raw event data is analyzed and, for each event ID within a time period, a specific set of numbers and sums are calculated. This set is then stored instead of the raw event ID and used for all subsequent analyses of the events. The set of numbers and sums reduce the amount of storage required for each event ID within a time period to a set of five data elements, regardless of the number of underlying events in the raw event data. The set of number and sums include a number of events, a sum of the events, a sum of the squares of the events, a sum of the cubes of the events and a sum of the events raised to the fourth power.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2010Date of Patent: March 15, 2011Assignee: Yahoo! Patent number: 7893847Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for determining parking availability are described. A sensor system is configured to monitor a plurality of parking spaces. The sensor system includes at least one sensor element that generates a sensor data output signal. A parking availability determiner receives the sensor data output signal and generates parking availability information. The parking availability determiner is configured to determine from the received sensor data output signal at least one parking space of the plurality of parking spaces that is occupied, and to include an indication in the parking availability information that the determined at least one parking space is occupied. If one or more further parking space are included in the plurality of parking spaces other than the determined at least one parking space, an indication is included in the parking availability information that the further parking spaces are available for parking.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2008Date of Patent: February 22, 2011Assignee: Yahoo! Publication number: 20090204319Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for mapping parking locations and for selecting parking are described. A search for parking resources proximate to a destination geographic location is performed. Parking information is generated based on the results of the search. The parking information may be displayed on a map of the destination geographical location. A map of the destination geographical location may be displayed with the parking information. A user may be enabled to select a parking location indicated on the map. The user may reserve the selected parking location if the selected parking location is determined to be reservable. Travel directions (e.g., for walking) from the selected parking location to the destination geographic location may be generated, and may be indicated on the map.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 11, 2008Publication date: August 13, 2009Applicant: YAHOO! Publication number: 20080140765Abstract: A device, system, and method are directed towards providing content over a network. A test definition is defined to include at least one group of visitors and/or a range associated with the group. The test definition is then received. A plurality of requests for a first content is received from the same browser. Each of the plurality of requests includes a previously generated value (PGV)/cookie. For each of the plurality of requests, a fast-hash is performed on the same PGV/cookie to generate an identifier (e.g., number). It is then determined whether to provide a second content instead of the first content based on whether the identifier is in the range associated with the at least one group of visitors. The determination may also be based on a URL filter, a browser type, operating system type, a time-range, or an argument-value pair. The first or second content is then provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 7, 2006Publication date: June 12, 2008Applicant: Yahoo! Inc.Inventors: Paul Kelaita, Philip Aaronson, Venkatesh B.
