  • Publication number: 20250085477
Abstract: An optical waveguide manufacturing method includes: receiving a master template having a plurality of individual waveguide structures imprinted thereon; coating the master template with a curable master template stamp material; curing the master template stamp material to form a master template stamp; separating the master template stamp from the master template; imprinting the master template stamp onto one or more first substrates having an imprintable coating to form one or more master template copies, each master template copy having a plurality of individual waveguide structure copies imprinted thereon; curing the one or more master template copies; separating the master template stamp from the one or more master template copies; coating one of the one or more master template copies with a curable working stamp material; curing the working stamp material to form a working stamp for manufacturing optical waveguides; and separating the master template copy from the working stamp.

  • Publication number: 20220299778
Abstract: An encapsulated waveguide system for a near eye optical display includes a first outer layer, a second outer layer, at least one waveguide substrate comprising an input area and an output area, a first spacer and a sealing element. The at least one waveguide substrate is disposed between the first and second outer layers and spaced therefrom by the first spacer. The sealing element joins edges of the first and second outer layers so as to encapsulate the at least one waveguide substrate within a cavity formed by the first and second outer layers. The formed cavity includes a first cavity between the at least one waveguide substrate and the first outer layer and a second cavity between the at least one waveguide substrate and the second outer layer.

  • Publication number: 20180096530
Abstract: An intelligent tool is configured to communicate with a wearable computing device to provide information that the wearable computing device uses to generate and/or display augmented reality content to a user of the wearable computing device. The intelligent tool includes a handle for a user to grip an intelligent tool, an engagement portion coupled to the handle, the engagement portion being configured to engage with an object, at least one sensor mounted to the engagement portion, the sensor configured to obtain information associated with the object, and one or more hardware processors in communication with the at least one sensor configured to store the obtained information. The intelligent tool may also include a power source configured to provide electrical power to the at least one sensor and the one or more hardware processors. The intelligent tool may also include a light source that emits a light to illuminate an object.

  • Publication number: 20180096531
Abstract: A system for displaying augmented reality content includes an intelligent tool and a wearable-computing device. The intelligent tool is configured to obtain at least one measurement of an object using at least one sensor mounted to the intelligent tool, and communicate the at least one measurement to a device in communication with the intelligent tool. The intelligent tool may further include a camera, and the at least one measurement includes an image acquired with the at least one camera. The intelligent tool may also include a biometric module configured to obtain a biometric measurement from a user of the intelligent tool. One or more modules of the intelligent tool may be powered based on the biometric measurement. The wearable-computing device includes a display affixed to the wearable-computing device, such that augmented reality content based on the obtained at least one measurement is displayed on the display.

  • Patent number: 8384999
Abstract: An optical module for head mounted displays and other applications comprises: an optical substrate and optical superstrate having inter-engaging ridged surfaces. A reflective layer is formed on at least one of the surfaces. An index matching material may be located between the surfaces. A region that receives a projected image, from a projector, directs rays launched from the projector onto the ridged surfaces, so that in use a viewer perceives an augmented image. The augmented image comprising reflected rays from the projector and transmitted rays from an object located on an opposite side of the module to that of the viewer.
