  • Patent number: 8512213
Abstract: Cigarette filter rods having individual objects positioned at predetermined intervals therein are prepared by transferring the individual objects from a rotating horizontal pan to a rotating vertical wheel and then depositing the object into a web of filter tow. Each object is positioned within the moving web of tow. The web filter material and the objects positioned within the web are introduced into a rod-forming unit wherein the rod is formed. The rate of feed of the filter tow, the rate of rotation of the horizontal pan and the vertical wheel are controlled relative to one another such that objects are positioned at predetermined intervals along the rod. Cigarette filter elements having well controlled amounts of flavorant contained therein can be made from the rods.

  • Publication number: 20130192691
Abstract: A fully recyclable valve housing adapted for engagement with a neck of a container such as a beer keg, has an inner port 25 for liquid and a concentric outer port 14 for pressurised gas, with openings 21 for admitting pressurised gas into the container. A dip tube 5 is connected to a bottom end fitting 4, communicating with a valve stem 8 within the valve housing. A valve member 6 is arranged to control flow through the concentric ports, and a spring element 7 located about the valve stem 8 urges the valve member upwards to close the ports. The spring element 7 is moulded from a resilient polymeric material and comprises a plurality of C-shaped sections 7a angularly arranged in two interconnected stacks on opposite sides of the valve stem such that movement of the valve member 6 by means of a valve-operating member causes concurrent resilient deformation of all the sections.

Abstract: A machine for processing of a web through a process tank containing process liquid and a tank containing wash water has in each tank an upper submerged guide and a pair of lower submerged guides, whereby the web passes on a sinusoidal path through the tank. Four drying guides are provided one above the over above the down-stream end of the processing tank. The guides have outlet slits 18 facing alternately up-stream and down-stream. A blower is provided for blowing air into the guides and out through the slits onto the web passing sinuously around the ducts. It acts both as a bearing medium holding the web off the surfaces of the ducts and as a drying medium.

  • Patent number: 8438472
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method that parses an unstructured document that includes a number of primitive elements. The method stores the primitive elements in a random order in a first storage. The method stores references to the primitive elements in a second storage in an order based on locations of the primitive elements in the unstructured document. The method receives instructions to perform a document reconstruction operation. The method performs the received instructions without storing any new references to the primitive elements.

  • Patent number: 8385323
Abstract: An invitation message (112, 116, 120) is sent from a concentrator (102) to nodes in a network. Each node records (124) an identifier (126) of the node or concentrator from which it received the message and forwards (122) the message to its neighbors. A node (108) then sends a trace message (132, 134, 136) to the concentrator (102) via intermediate nodes (106, 104) traversed by the invitation message in reaching the node and appends thereto the identifiers of the intermediate nodes. The concentrator then uses source routing to send a subsequent message (144, 146, 148) to the node (108) using the identifiers included in the trace message. The invitation message and/or the subsequent message includes characteristics) (200) of the concentrator one or more of which are then stored by nodes, including node (108). The characteristic(s) are used in deciding (206, 208) to send further trace messages, thereby regulating use of network bandwidth.
