Publication number: 20110297499Abstract: A high efficiency hydraulic control system for a wet dual clutch transmission includes an engine driven hydraulic pump. A first pair of variable feed solenoid valves independently and mutually exclusively provide hydraulic fluid to a respective pair of main or input clutch actuators. A second pair of variable feed solenoid valves provide hydraulic fluid to a pair of inlet ports of a first spool or logic valve. The position of the spool of the first logic valve is controlled by an on-off solenoid valve. A first pair of outlet ports of the first logic valve selectively provide hydraulic fluid to a first three area piston which selects two gear or speed ratios, for example, reverse and third gear. A second pair of outlet ports of the first logic valve selectively provide hydraulic fluid to a pair of inlet ports of a second spool or logic valve. The position of the spool of the second logic valve is controlled by hydraulic fluid from the input clutch circuits.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 4, 2010Publication date: December 8, 2011Applicant: GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS, INC.Inventors: Philip C. Publication number: 20110139285Abstract: A compact fluid accumulator both stores a relatively large amount of fluid and provides good fluid pressure stability. The accumulator includes a piston slidably disposed in a cylinder having a fluid inlet/outlet at one end which communicates with a first chamber and one face of the piston. Engaging the opposite face of the piston, and disposed in a second chamber, is a compression spring. The second chamber is filled with a gas which is at atmospheric pressure when the accumulator is relaxed. When pressurized hydraulic fluid fills the first chamber, the piston moves against the pressure of the spring and gas in the second chamber. The present invention thus provides an accumulator having the relatively small size of a gas filled accumulator without the leakage problem of a super-atmospheric gas charge—the extra force being provided by the compression spring.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 10, 2009Publication date: June 16, 2011Applicant: GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS, INC.Inventors: Philip C. Lundberg, James B. Borgerson
