  • Patent number: 8061803
Abstract: A document processor for capturing data and images from checks and other financial and payment-related documents includes a document track and a plurality of processing devices located along the document track. The plurality of processing devices includes an ink jet rear endorser. A manual ink jet cleaning and capping station is built into the track wall directly in front of the ink jet rear endorser. The station includes a movable track wall portion that is movable between first and second positions and includes an opening and a cap. When the track wall portion is in the first position, the cap engages the endorser to prevent any liquid ink on the endorser from drying. When the track wall portion is in the second position, the opening aligns with the endorser to allow the endorser to print on passing documents.

  • Publication number: 20110074100
Abstract: A method and apparatus for use in document jogger system are provided. The apparatus includes a document detector that detects the presence and absence of documents in the pocket of the document jogger system and that automatically activates and deactivates the document jogger system when documents are present and absent, respectively. Detecting the presence and absence of documents in the pocket and automatically activating and deactivating, respectively, the document jogger system based on the detected conditions, allows an increase in overall “wall-clock” throughput and a reduction in operator intervention to be realized. The increased throughput and the reduced operator intervention improve the overall quality of document processing and allow overall document processing costs to be reduced. The apparatus may also include one or more visual indicators and associated electrical circuitry for providing a visual indication of the status of the document jogger system.

  • Patent number: 6533381
Abstract: A method and system for ink jet printing of characters in a variable rate document transport creates a correct column pitch for the document speed. An endorser control system includes a processor having a DMA unit for retrieving column data at a column data rate wherein the processor controls the variable document travel rate. The system further includes a sequencer for converting the column data into dot data. The DMA unit in conjunction with a compare match timer writes the column data from the processor memory to the sequencer at the specified column data rate.

  • Patent number: 6299159
Abstract: A battery powered paper jogger can be placed on a countertop for individual use. The paper jogger includes a power module for receiving DC power from a DC power source, and a vibration system for producing vibratory motion in response to the DC power. The paper jogger also includes a housing enclosing the power module and coupled to the vibration system such that the vibratory motion of the vibration system is transferred to the housing. A preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a timer for generating a control signal upon expiration of a predetermined amount of time or upon manual termination, and a switching mechanism disposed between the DC power source and the vibration system. The switching mechanism disconnects the DC power source from the vibration system in response to the control signal.

  • Patent number: 5837063
Abstract: A method of providing a track-cleaning wand for use in a document handling machine having a track along which documents are transported past sensors separated by a distance d and recessed away from the side walls of the track, this wand including a rigid handle with, at one end, a rigid elongate spacer bar carrying a pair of like brushes spaced apart by the sensor separation-distance and having bristles long enough to reach the face of a sensor, when the spacer bar is swept along the track.
