Patent number: 10935219Abstract: A surface mount luminaire includes a housing assembly formed by a light source housing and a housing cover that are removably coupled to each other. The light source housing includes a recessed structure that defines an inner cavity. The inner cavity houses a lighting assembly that is configured to emit light to an area that is to be illuminated. Further, the light source housing defines a second cavity that is disposed external to and around the recessed structure. The second cavity is enclosed by the housing cover and houses electrical components associated with the luminaire such that the electrical components are inset within the housing assembly of the luminaire. Further, the luminaire includes one or more gaskets that are coupled to the housing assembly to provide a seal that is configured to protect the one or more components disposed in the second cavity from environmental elements.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2020Date of Patent: March 2, 2021Assignee: SIGNIFY HOLDING B.V.Inventors: Philip D. Publication number: 20190154245Abstract: A retrofitted light fixture can include a power source that delivers primary power. The retrofitted light fixture can also include at least one light fixture component of an existing light fixture, where the at least one light fixture component, as part of the existing light fixture, was directly coupled to the power source. The retrofitted light fixture can further include an adapter coupled to the power supply and the at least one light source, where the adapter comprises a controller, where the adapter receives the primary power from the power source, where the controller delivers power to the at least one light fixture component based on instructions.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 28, 2019Publication date: May 23, 2019Inventors: Philip D. Winters, Jyoti Kumar, Bryant A. Bilal, Seth Doheny

Patent number: 6362976Abstract: A radio having a detachable pod assembly and a pair of silicone keypads. The first silicone keypad is located within the detachable pod assembly, while the second silicone keypad is closely coupled with a printed circuit board that is electrically coupled with a microprocessor based controller. When the pod assembly is snapped into the radio faceplate, there is preferably a 0.2 mm interference fit between the two silicone keypads. When the user depresses the first silicone keypad, the actuation forces depress the second silicone keypad in series. As the second silicone keypad is depressed, a carbon contact “pill” on the second silicone keypad contacts the printed circuit board and signals the circuit board's microprocessor that a button has been depressed. The microprocessor then directs the radio to respond accordingly.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2000Date of Patent: March 26, 2002Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Philip D. Patent number: 5395292Abstract: A roller control system for a continuously-variable-ratio transmission of the toroidal race, rolling traction type, in which rollers (60) of variable orientation transmit traction between a part-toroidal race (85) formed on an input disc (61) and a similar race (87) formed on a coaxial output disc (62). Each roller is mounted to rotate about a fixed centre (66) and a fixed axis (58) within a rigid carriage (67), one end of which contacts operating mechanism reciprocable over a predetermined stroke of operating movement and operable to apply a control force to the carriage. The assembly of roller and carriage is located by only three contacts with adjacent structure, namely the two disc/roller contacts (86, 88) and the contact (82) with the operating mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1993Date of Patent: March 7, 1995Assignee: Torotrak (Development) LimitedInventors: Thomas G. Fellows, Christopher J. Greenwood, Philip D. Winter

Patent number: 5217418Abstract: A driveline for a wheeled vehicle in which two laterally-displaced driving wheels (37, 38) are driven by the output (33, 36) of a transmission of continuously-variable ratio. The transmission is capable of a "geared neutral" condition, and is driven by way of a slipless connection (5, 6, 7; 70-73) from the engine (2). The engine output axis (3), the engine/transmission connection and the variator output axis (15) are arranged in a "U"-shaped formation. Such an arrangement promotes a compact and well-balanced installation in which the vehicle centerline (1) may roughly bisect the engine, and the wheel half-shafts (43, 44) can be nearly equal in length. Alternative embodiments are described in which the output axis of the variator coincides with the final drive axis (FIG. 3), or is parallel to but displaced from it (FIG. 1).Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1991Date of Patent: June 8, 1993Assignee: Torotrak (Development) LimitedInventors: Thomas G. Fellows, Philip D. Winter
