  • Patent number: 8434333
Abstract: A knit fabric, protective sleeve and glove constructed therefrom has three knit layers knit constructed and knit to one another in a single knitting operation to provide the fabric as a single piece of knit material. The fabric includes an outer layer, an inner layer and an intermediate layer sandwiched between the outer and inner layers. The outer layer is knit with a first yarn, the inner layer is knit with a second yarn and the intermediate layer is knit with a third yarn in looped fashion about at least some of the first and second yarns to provide an integrally knit structure having three layers knit stitched together in a single knitting process.

  • Publication number: 20080135119
Abstract: An elongate sleeve for protecting elongate members and method of construction thereof has a textile sleeve with a wall having an inner surface providing a cavity extending along a longitudinal axis of the sleeve for receiving the elongate members. A resilient support member is arranged in communication with the wall. The support member has an arcuate shape in lateral cross-section with an outer convex surface facing outwardly from the axis for flush engagement with the inner surface of the wall and an inner concave surface facing inwardly toward the axis. The support member extends less than completely about a circumference of the inner surface.

  • Patent number: 7216622
Abstract: A heat shield and heat shield assembly for protecting components exposed to heat are disclosed. The heat shield includes a shroud shaped to cover the component, the shroud having heat reflective layers and a heat insulating layer. The shroud is attached to a clip for removable attachment to the component. A flexible, resilient tab extends from the shroud, the tab providing a means for attaching the heat shield to a wiring harness to form an assembly connectable to the component. The tab is bendable for relative movement of the shroud from a position spaced from the component to a position in which the shroud covers the component upon connection of the wiring harness to the component.

  • Patent number: 6639148
Abstract: An RFI/EMI shield is formed of interlaced conducting and non-conducting filamentary members. The shield takes the form of a sleeve with a longitudinal seam, the sleeve being biased so that free edges defining the seam are positioned in overlapping relation. A pair of filamentary drain members are positioned adjacent to each other and covered by one of the free edges. One of the drain members is continuously interlaced with the filamentary members forming the sleeve, the other is interlaced at a plurality of attachment regions arranged in spaced relation lengthwise along the sleeve. Between the attachment regions, the drain member floats on the surface of the sleeve and is extendible away from the sleeve for attachment to an electrical ground.

  • Publication number: 20030030197
Abstract: A flexible sleeve for damping vibrations and suppressing noise is disclosed. The sleeve is corrugated for radial stiffness and bending flexibility and has one or more damping layers of non-woven felt adhered to a flexible, resilient tubular support layer. The damping layers may be on both the inside and outside surfaces of the support layer. The support layer defines an interior space for receiving elongate substrates, the sleeve being slit to provide access to the interior space. Manufacture of the sleeve is by wrapping elongate multilayer strips combining the damping and support layers helically around a convoluted mandrel and applying heat and pressure to join the strips and force them to conform to the convoluted shape of the mandrel.
