  • Publication number: 20240084645
Abstract: Provided is a braking system for use with an extension ladder having a base section and a fly section movable relative to the base section via an adjustment rope. The braking system includes a first and a second position. When tension is applied to the rope, the spring mechanism allows upwards or downwards movement of the fly section relative to the base section. When tension is removed from the rope, the spring mechanism slows or resists upwards or downwards movement of the fly section relative to the base section regardless of the fly section's position relative to the base section.

  • Patent number: 11846136
Abstract: Provided is a braking system for use with an extension ladder having a base section and a fly section movable relative to the base section via an adjustment rope. The braking system includes a bracket for attachment to the fly section. A pulley and an arm are secured to and movable relative to the bracket by the adjustment rope between a first position when no tension is applied to the rope and a second position when tension is applied to the adjustment rope. A cam is movable between an engaged position when the pulley and arm are in the first position with the cam engaging with the base section to prevent movement of the fly section relative to the base section, and a disengaged position when the pulley and arm are in the second position.

  • Patent number: 10895110
Abstract: Provided is ladder having an extension leg movable longitudinally in first and second directions opposite one another, and a stabilizer arm pivotably coupled to and movable with the extension leg. The stabilizer arm is pivotable about an axis perpendicular to the first and second directions such that the stabilizer arm is rotated relative to the extension leg to contact a surface to stabilize the ladder in a sideways direction perpendicular to the first and second directions.

  • Publication number: 20190323295
Abstract: Provided is an adjustable extension for attachment to a ladder leg. The extension has an extension body and a friction surface that presses against the extension body to prevent movement of the extension body. The extension also includes a retainer that engages a retainer catch attached to the extension body to releasably hold the extension body in a retraced position, thereby allowing for one-handed operation and easy transportation of the ladder.

  • Patent number: 10107035
Abstract: Provided is an adjustable extension for a ladder leg having an outer housing, an inner housing movable longitudinally relative to the outer housing in first and second directions opposite one another, and a stabilizer arm pivotably coupled to and movable with the inner housing. The stabilizer arm is pivotable about an axis perpendicular to the first and second directions such that the stabilizer arm is rotated relative to the inner housing to contact a surface to stabilize the extension in a sideways direction perpendicular to the first and second directions.

  • Patent number: 9834989
Abstract: Improvements to the leg extension of an adjustable ladder leveler and, more generally, improvements to ladder legs. A shoe with a claw that folds to be parallel to the ladder leg and then slides upward with respect to the leg thereby becoming locked into position so that it cannot move away from being parallel so long as weight is applied on the ladder. If the shoe is on an extension, as the shoe slides up, it engages a safety bar that prevents release of the extension.
