Abstract: A device having variable inspiratory resistance suitable for measuring the inspiratory strength of a patient which comprises a chamber in communication with a mouthpiece, said chamber (a) being provided with a calibration system for measuring the inhalation flow rate during inhalation through the mouthpiece and (b) being provided with a variable resistance feature by which the resistance to airflow through the device may be altered.

Abstract: There is provided a medicament dispenser for use with a medicament carrier having a plurality of pockets for containing medicament wherein said pockets are spaced along the length of and defined between two peelable sheets secured to each other. The dispenser has an opening mechanism for opening received pockets of the medicament carrier. The mechanism includes an indexer for indexing pockets of a medicament carrier in use with said medicament dispenser. The indexer comprises an index ratchet, which is moveable between a locked position in which said ratchet locks a lid driver and a release position in which the ratchet releases the lid driver. Actuation of the medicament dispenser releases the index ratchet from the lid driver to enable drivable peeling of the lid sheet from the base sheet of the pocket at an opening station.
