  • Publication number: 20080011313
Abstract: The invention of the present disclosure includes methods for constructing wigs wherein an at least one effector attached to a robotic arm of a robot is positioned proximate to a wig cap; and the effector is then operated to fixedly attach an at least one hair to the wig cap.
    Type: Application

    Publication date: January 17, 2008
    Inventor: Philip Gildenberg
  • Publication number: 20070106306
Abstract: An automated system for harvesting or implanting follicular units, including a moveable arm; a harvesting and/or implantation tool mounted on the moveable arm; one or more cameras mounted on the moveable arm; a processor configured to receive and process images acquired by the one or more cameras; and a controller operatively associated with the processor and configured to position the moveable arm based, at least in part, on processed images acquired by the one or more cameras, wherein the moveable arm is positionable such that the tool may be positioned at a desired orientation relative to an adjacent body surface.
    Type: Application
    Filed: April 28, 2006
    Publication date: May 10, 2007
    Applicant: Restoration Robotics, Inc.
Inventors: Mohan Bodduluri, Philip Gildenberg, Donald Caddes
  • Publication number: 20070106307
Abstract: A method for implanting follicular units in a body surface includes (i) acquiring and processing images of a body surface to identify an implantation site on the body surface, (ii) using an automated system including a moveable arm to position an implantation tool mounted on the moveable arm to a location adjacent the implantation site, (ii) implanting a follicular unit in the body surface by movement of the implantation tool relative to the body surface, wherein the images are acquired from one or more cameras mounted on the moveable arm.

  • Publication number: 20070078466
Abstract: A method for harvesting follicular units from a body surface, includes acquiring and processing images of a body surface to identify a follicular unit on the body surface and to determine a relative position and orientation of the identified folliculat unit; using an automated system including a moveable arm to position a harvesting tool mounted on the moveable arm adjacent the identified follicular unit, based at least in part on processed image data, such that a longitudinal axis of the harvesting tool is aligned with a longitudinal axis of the follicular unit; and harvesting the follicular unit by movement of the harvesting tool relative to the body surface, wherein the images are acquired from one or more cameras mounted on the moveable arm.

  • Publication number: 20060020272
Abstract: A semi-robotic apparatus and methods of use thereof for suturing body tissue, wherein the apparatus includes a housing; at least two distal arms connected to and extending distally from the housing, wherein the at least two distal arms are independently both extendable and retractable; a suture needle clasp connected to a distal end of each of the at least two distal arms, wherein the suture needle clasp is radially rotateable orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the distal arm to which it is connected; and at least one controller operable for controlling at least a portion of the extension or retraction of the at least two distal arms, the rotation of the suture clasps and the opening and closing of the suture needle clasps.

  • Publication number: 20030163040
Abstract: A computer-based system generating audible feedback to assist with guidance of at least one trackable point in space is provided. Surgical embodiments include generating audible feedback (to supplement visual and tactile feedback) to a surgeon moving the tip of a probe, for example, in a surgical field with respect to a volume of interest such as a tumor. Other surgical embodiments include generating audible feedback to assist with the precise insertion of a pedicle screw. In such surgical embodiments, as a surgeon moves a probe or instrument within the surgical field, a computer analyzes the current position of the probe and/or instrument in space with respect to a system of fiducial markers.
