  • Publication number: 20160005294
Abstract: System and method for monitoring electrical devices such as luminaires, including ballast and/or battery powered lighting components, for variety of fault conditions from central location utilize monitoring unit that interfaces with host lighting fixture or luminaire to allow status of host to be remotely monitored. Monitoring unit can interface with host in fully galvanically isolated manner using current transformers allowing host lighting fixture to be monitored in the least intrusive manner. Monitoring unit can be seamlessly fitted to new luminaires or existing luminaires. Current transformer interface has minimal effect on host ballast functionality and operation. Monitoring system may include a plurality of monitoring units multi-dropped on a single field bus network or in a power line communication. Power for monitoring unit can be derived from field bus network or power line. Operating parameters and addressing information of monitoring unit may be configured via interface using laptop or PC.

  • Patent number: 8055396
Abstract: A landing gear monitor for aircraft landing gear including a plurality of pairs of wheels on a bogie, in which the main strut oil pressure serves to indicate landing load and is monitored in relation to, respectively, the two-wheel mode and the four-wheel mode, the two-wheel mode being the condition when a first of the plurality of pairs of wheels on the bogie contacts the ground and the four-wheel mode being the condition of a first and a second of the plurality of pairs of wheels on the bogie being in full contact with the ground.

  • Publication number: 20100023101
Abstract: The present invention relates to biocompatible composites, in particular biocompatible nanotube composites in the form of a fiber mat and/or film structure, comprising nanotubes and at least one biomolecule. The invention also relates to a process for preparing a biocompatible composite involving (i) forming a dispersing media comprising nanotubes and at least one biomolecule; and either (ii) introducing the dispersing media of step (i) into a coagulating media optionally comprising at least one biomolecule so as to form a continuous fiber; or (iii) filtering the dispersing media of step (i). Alternatively, the process involves (i) forming a dispersing media comprising nanotubes; and (ii) introducing the dispersing media of step (i) into a coagulating media comprising at least one biomolecule so as to form a continuous fiber. The biocompatible composite is useful as a medical device, preferably in a bio-electrode, bio-fuel cell or substrates for electronically stimulated bio-growth.

  • Publication number: 20090018343
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to perfluoroalkyl chiral auxiliary compounds and methods of manufacture. These compounds have the functionality to effectively support the synthesis of chiral compounds in single reactions, high-throughput parallel reactions, or combinatorial reactions The invention relates to two oxazolidinone chiral auxiliaries (1) and (2): wherein Rf is a perfluoroalkyl group having the general formula (CH2)x—CyF2y+1 where x=1-5 and y=4-10 and wherein B is an unfunctionalized aryl, alkyl or arylalkyl group in a preferred embodiment, x=2 and y=6 and B is derived from unfunctionalized amino acids The amino acids may be from either the D- or L-series, and are preferably enantiomerically pure or in very high enantiomeric excess in either configuration.

  • Publication number: 20080257147
Abstract: A gas distributor, for distributing a gas that contains an entrained liquid, comprises a body with upper (14,16) and lower perforate sections (18,20) and liquid separation means (22,28) disposed within said body between said upper (14) and lower (18) sections that coalesces at least part of the liquid entrained in the gas. A vessel (50), e.g. a catalyst (56) or sorbent vessel comprises the distributor and a process for distributing a gas and the separated liquid to a vessel using the distributor.
