  • Patent number: 11863280
Abstract: Techniques for determining the directional frequency response of an arrangement of transducer elements are disclosed. In an example, a method includes providing a simulation of locations of the transducer elements, in the spatial domain; providing a beamforming direction and a frequency range; converting the simulation of locations from the spatial domain into corresponding frequency response values in a spatial frequency domain, such that, for each frequency of a plurality of frequencies in the frequency range, a spatial frequency contour is defined, each of the spatial frequency contours intersecting at the origin; determining the frequency response by applying a transformation to the frequency response values for the provided beamforming direction and frequency range and translating the spatial frequency domain into a modified frequency domain; and outputting the frequency response.

  • Patent number: 11585185
Abstract: An assembly and method of manufacturing an assembly for use as an isolation barrier to be run in and secured within a well. The assembly has a sleeve member positioned on the exterior of a tubular body, fixed at each end to create a chamber therebetween. Fluid can enter the chamber through a port in the tubular body to morph the sleeve member against a larger diameter surface in the well. The sleeve member is formed of at least two materials, welded together and machined before being arranged on the tubular body. One material is more expandable than the other so as to morph more easily. The sleeve is connected to the tubular body by screw threads and seals. Initial construction of the sleeve member allows welding, inspection and machining without affecting the tensile strength of the tubular body or complete assembly.

  • Patent number: 11085268
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an assembly for use as an isolation barrier to be run in and secured within a well. The assembly has a first tubular section providing a mandrel portion over which a sleeve body is located. The sleeve body is initially welded to a second tubular section to provide a part assembly which can be welded, inspected and machined without affecting the mandrel portion. The second tubular section is then coupled to the first tubular section and the sleeve body welded to the first tubular section to provide a chamber between the sections and the sleeve body. In use, fluid can enter the chamber through a port in the mandrel portion and morph the sleeve against a larger diameter surface in the well. In an embodiment the second tubular section includes a support for the sleeve body during initial welding which is then machined away.

  • Patent number: 10864511
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods of synthesizing slurries comprising ferrihydrite nanoparticles, and systems and methods employing the same. The method may include the steps of preparing an aqueous solution having ferric iron cations, halide anions, and a two-line iron promoter, and precipitating the ferrihydrite nanoparticles in the aqueous solution, thereby producing a ferrihydrite slurry. The ferrihydrite slurries may be useful in treating a polluted fluid having sulfur contaminants therein.

  • Publication number: 20190292280
Abstract: Both a system and method for cleaning a tow pressure separation vessel of a high pressure polyethylene polymerization plant are provided. The system includes a polytetrafluoroethylene lining that covers the interior surfaces of the vessel, and a cover mounting assembly including an annular clamp for detachably mounting a cover over the vessel. The mounting assembly includes a clamp actuator for quickly securing and releasing the cover with respect to a top rim of the vessel. The vessel is drained of liquid polyethylene and allowed to cool to ambient temperature, thus creating a frozen “skin” of polyethylene around the interior surfaces of the vessel. The clamp actuator releases the cover. The polyethylene skin is peeled off the interior sides the vessel and gathered up at the top to form a neck, thus peeling the polyethylene skin away from the polytetrafluoroethylene lining along with any degraded polymers or other impurities that have accumulated on the interior surfaces of the vessel.

  • Patent number: 9606147
Abstract: A device for measuring electrical current in a line may include, among other things, a Hall effect sensor wherein a first response is generated by electrical current in the line; a current transformer disposed with the line extending axially therethrough and connected in series to the Hall effect sensor wherein a second response is generated by the electrical current in the line. An equalizer may be connected to the Hall effect sensor and to the current transformer and may be configured to flatten the first and second responses relative to each other. The permeability magnetic path length and cross section of the current transformer is selected such that low frequency roll-off of the current transformer is at a lower frequency than high frequency roll-off of the Hall effect sensor.

  • Patent number: 9425706
Abstract: A three phase inverter consisting of three single phase legs using either switch mode or linear control is fed by a DC-DC converter to provide input output isolation. This requires that the DC-DC converter delivers equal positive and negative voltages to the single phase legs to allow each output to generate a high fidelity sine wave outputs to the load. By measuring the error voltages on the positive output, the negative output and the total output of the DC-DC converter it is possible to control a single duty cycle while maintaining all three output voltages within the limits required by the DC-AC phase legs. This significantly reduces the cost and complexity of the DC-DC converter and eliminates the need to use a fourth phase leg to generate the neutral connection for a three phase output.
