    Abstract: A structural magnetic vibration controller and a method for actively controlling vibrations through the use of a magnetic coupling between a damper mass and a stationary component of rotary machinery wherein the stiffness and damping characteristics of the magnetic coupling are controlled as a function of the relative movements between a first electromagnet carried by the machinery and a second electromagnet carried by the damping mass.
