  • Publication number: 20220106121
Abstract: A system and method is provided for controlling an automated warehouse or order fulfillment facility. The system includes a sequencing tower, which functions as a buffer for inbound items and shipping containers, and various pick/decant workstations which are connected between the sequencing tower and an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS). The sequencing tower is adapted for receiving, storing, and releasing newly erected shipping containers and inbound vendor cases. The pick/decant workstations function as a hub between the sequencing tower and the ASRS, where operators at the pick/decant workstations pick order items to shipping containers to fulfil orders or pick inbound/vendor items to inventory containers to be stored in the ASRS. The system and methods synchronize the sequencing tower and ASRS to release items to arrive at the workstations simultaneously to optimize efficiency and throughput of the facility.

  • Patent number: 11192718
Abstract: A method of order fulfillment, and system for carrying out the method, includes storing individual items as inventory items in an automated storage and retrieval system and retrieving inventory items from the automated storage and retrieval system in response to an order for those inventory items. The retrieved inventory items are sorted into order batches and transported to an automatic induct for an automated put wall. The order batches are automatically inducted to the automated put wall as individual items. The individual items are segregated for each order at a location on the put wall that is assigned to that order. Individual items for an order are removed together from the automated put wall and transported together to a packing function.

  • Publication number: 20200039745
Abstract: A method of order fulfillment, and system for carrying out the method, includes presenting individual items for multiple orders to an automated put wall and segregating the individual items for each order at a location on the put wall that is assigned to that order. Individual items for an order are removed together from the automated put wall and transported together to a packing function. Preferably individual items are stored as inventory items in an automated storage and retrieval system and retrieved from the automated storage and retrieval system in response to an order for those inventory items. The retrieved inventory items are sorted into order batches and automatically inducted to the automated put wall.
