Abstract: A planar diaphragm acoustic loudspeaker having a planar diaphragm biased with a high magnetic flux density magnetic circuit which feeds an acoustic waveguide. The apparatus provides high fidelity and efficient acoustic reproduction of high frequency alternating current signals with a minimum of diaphragm resonance and with a substantially flat electrical input impedance versus frequency. The diaphragm has a substantially uniform drive across an acoustically active portion and is held in three dimensional space whereby any mass or diaphragm resonances are controlled and minimized. The acoustic waveguide mates with said diaphragm and ensures a uniform acoustic phase field and an optimal diaphragm acoustic impedance match with atmosphere.
