Abstract: A marine autopilot steering system for a marine vessel having a stern is provided. A positioning system is arranged to provide a course over ground input. An input unit is arranged for setting a course or lock an existing course, A speed sensor is arranged to provide a speed input. A first deflector unit is arranged at a starboard side of the stern and a second deflector unit is arranged at a port side of the stern. A control unit is operatively connected with the positioning system, the speed sensor, the first deflector unit and the second deflector unit. The control unit is configured to steer the marine vessel by deploying one of the first deflector unit and the second deflector unit based on the course over ground input and the speed input.
