  • Publication number: 20230165621
Abstract: Systems, devices and methods for performing medical procedures in the intestine of a patient are provided. A medical device for performing a treatment and/or a diagnostic procedure can include an elongate shaft assembly comprising at least a shaft assembly first section comprising a distal section of the shaft assembly, and a shaft assembly second section proximal to the first section, and a functional assembly positioned on the shaft assembly first section. Additional sections of the shaft assembly can be included, and each section can comprise a different construction, such as to achieve a different stiffness as described herein. Variable stiffness along the length of the shaft assembly can be provided to aid in translation of the device through the patient's GI tract (e.g. through the stomach and into the small intestine), as described herein.

  • Publication number: 20210299465
Abstract: A system can deliver a specific amount of energy to a target region of a patients body by scanning an energy beam over a precise path. The system can include a beam-path determination unit that defines the path and a duration for an energy beam to deliver a dose and/or a fluence of energy to the target region of the patients body of the shape and/or the size. The system can also include an energy delivery system comprising an energy source that projects the energy beam for the duration and director device that directs (or scans) the energy beam along the path to deliver the dose and/or the fluence to the target region to achieve the dose profile and/or the fluence profile.

  • Publication number: 20080161748
Abstract: The present invention relates to devices and methods for killing and/or debilitating pathogenic microorganisms, such as the H. pylori bacteria within a patient's body. A light source is provided that emits electromagnetic radiation having wavelengths within the visible spectrum. The light source can be internal and/or external to the patient's body. For embodiments having a light source external to the body, a light guide is provided for transferring electromagnetic radiation from the light source to a location within the patient's body. The light guide has a proximal end optically coupled to the light source and a distal end dimensioned for insertion into a patient's body. A delivery element is also provided to optically couple electromagnetic radiation from the light to a location with a patient's body.

  • Patent number: 5394394
Abstract: The classifier device disclosed herein analyzes message headers of the type which comprise a sequence of bit groups presented successively. The device employs a read/write memory for storing at a multiplicity of addresses, an alterable parse graph of instructions. The parse graph instructions include node instructions which comprise opcodes in association with respective next address characterizing data and terminator instructions which comprise identifying data for previously characterized header types. A logical processor responds to a node instruction read from memory either by initiating another memory read at a next address which, given the current state of the processor, is determinable from the current node instruction and the current header bit group or by outputting data indicating recognition failure if no next address is determinable. The logical processor responds to a terminator instruction by outputting respective header identifying data.
