  • Publication number: 20240328472
Abstract: A telescoping ball nut assembly comprising an inner nut, an outer nut, and a screw. The inner nut has a release stop located on or proximate to a first end thereof and an apply stop located on or proximate to a second end thereof, the first end opposing the second end. The outer nut has a release stop located on or proximate to an end thereof corresponding in orientation to the first end of the inner nut. The screw comprises an apply stop located on or proximate to an end thereof corresponding in orientation to the second end of the inner nut. Pivotal translation of the screw causes axial translation of the inner nut and/or the outer nut.

  • Publication number: 20240247697
Abstract: A ball and nut assembly adapted for a brake system of a vehicle, comprising: (a) a nut having a threaded portion; (b) a spindle having a threaded portion positioned at least partially within the nut so that the threaded portion of the spindle engages the threaded portion of the nut; and (c) an end stop positioned adjacent to the spindle, wherein a mating area is located between the end stop and the spindle, the mating area includes a contact region in which the end stop contacts the spindle directly or indirectly, and the contact region includes a circumferential area greater than a circumferential area of a single line contact between the end stop and the spindle.

  • Publication number: 20240125363
Abstract: A brake system and a method of performing a release operation with the brake system. The brake system comprises a sliding caliper body and a fixed caliper body. The fixed caliper body has a stop formed therein and accommodates a spindle nut that mates with the stop in a release operation. The brake system comprises a spindle that drives the spindle nut in a second direction during the release operation. Continued translation of the spindle after mating of the spindle nut with the stop drives the sliding caliper body in a first direction opposing the second direction.

  • Patent number: 10865840
Abstract: A floating caliper brake assembly comprising: a caliper housing that is movable between a brake on position and a brake off position; a support bracket at least partially enclosed by the caliper housing and configured to extend around a rotor of a vehicle, the caliper housing being in communication with and movable relative to the support bracket, wherein the caliper housing has one or more fingers that extend radially downward and cover the support bracket so that when the brake assembly is viewed from an outboard side along an axis coaxial with, or substantially parallel to, an axis of rotation of the rotor the support bracket is obscured from view.
