  • Publication number: 20110286171
Abstract: A display support system includes a chassis housing an electronic display and defining a support member channel. A support member is moveably coupled to the chassis. The support member is operable to move between a stored position in which the support member is positioned in the support member channel and a support position in which the support member extends from the chassis. An adjustment member is moveably coupled to the support member. With the chassis engaging a support surface, the adjustment member is operable to engage the support surface and move relative to the support member such that an angle between the electronic display and the support surface may be adjusted. The system allows the electronic display to be supported in either a landscape orientation and a portrait orientation, while allowing the angle between the support surface and the electronic display to be adjusted in either orientation.

  • Publication number: 20100042758
Abstract: Space along the perimeter of a portable information handling system is made available for I/O connections with external devices by integrating I/O ports into a battery housing having some length extending along the perimeter. The I/O ports interface with the information handling system with wires running through the battery housing from the I/O ports to a location aligned with connectors of the information handling system, such as in a chassis bay sized to accept the battery housing. In one embodiment, the battery housing has a first portion for containing battery cells and a second portion that couples to the first portion, the second portion having selected I/O ports for selective configuration of the information handling system with desired I/O ports.

  • Publication number: 20090251406
Abstract: An information handling system has a chassis and a lid, the lid rotating between a closed position and a tablet position. An indicator coupled to the lid, such as a magnet, aligns with a first detector coupled to a chassis of the information handling system, such as a Hall effect detector, in the tablet position so that the detector signals to a position detector module to disable a keyboard of the information handling system. The indicator aligns with a second detector coupled to the chassis in a closed configuration so that the second detector signals to the position detector module to enter a power down state.

  • Publication number: 20090198853
Abstract: Alignment posts that aid alignment of a peripheral slice to couple to the bottom surface of an information handling system also interface with a release so that actuation of the release translates to movement of the alignment posts relative to the peripheral slice so that the information handling system slides relative to the peripheral slice. Sliding of the peripheral slice relative to the information handling system releases attachment devices, such as hooks of the peripheral device that couple to attachment points of the information handling system so that the peripheral device decouples from the information handling system.

  • Publication number: 20090047824
Abstract: A connector alignment apparatus includes a first connector. A first proximity sensor element is operable to sense when a second connector is positioned proximate to the first connector. An indicator is coupled to the first proximity sensor element and operable to provide an indication in response to the second connector being positioned proximate to the first connector. The indicator may provide a visual indication of the direction to move the second connector in such that the second connector is proximate to and aligned with the first connector. Once proximate and aligned, the second connector may be mated with the first connector.
